im about a third of the way though (i hope|)

its pretty good I think it plays better than the first but the story is not as good (so far) the feeling im getting from a lot of my friends is its not as good as the original in anyway but its a good solid game. Ive touched multiplayer and I think thats shit.

your playing on 360, ya?

from what im hearing it plays better than the first but the story isnt as tight....sound about right?

i think i will grab the first one used on my way home from work so i can play through it again, and then grab bioshock2 in a couple weeks...preferably used....

interested to hear more impressions....i trust the opinions of our members more than i trust mainstream review sites....

I've played through it. The story isn't as good as the 1st like mentioned before but the visuals will suck you in all over again along with the atmosphere. It does have an interesting switch up at the end also.

The game is tougher this time also, at least it seams that way to me. I never havested any of the little sisters so that might have more of an impact this time around?

If you enjoyed the 1st one then I say go for this one also. I played both on 360 as well.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

i played through the first one on easy( i suck terribly at FPS's)....so as long as i can get through easy mode on part 2 i will be happy...also helps if it has the arrows to tell me where to go

is this one as long as the first one? granted, i suck at these games and tend to get lost or miss the obvious and waste time, but it took me like 20hrs or so to play through the original on easy....yes...i suck

Good to hear the game is harder than its predecessor. I'm no FPS expert either but I managed to get through the majority of the first title using only the upgraded wrench and some melee abilities and never once used a health chamber. I still thoroughly enjoyed Bioshock but I think i'll wait for the sequel to come down to $19.99.

Not to de-rail the thread, but HL2 is mind-blowingly good. I went into the game expecting standard FPS stuff, what I got was fun physics puzzles all over the place and really awesome level design. If your computer has a mediocre-or-better video card, do yourself a favor. As for Bioshock 2, I've seen some mixed reactions. I haven't played it myself, but a friend of mine enjoyed the first one more, while I've seen others who thought the sequel was a vast improvement. Regardless, it seems to be worth getting.

Ive never played the first game even though ive had the game for pc fo a long time, il think im gonna play it next then buy the 2nd game in a month or 2 when the price has dropped a bit.

Another game i wanna play is mass effect 2 but since ive yet to play the 1st game and cant get hold of a boxed version of it locally, it looks like im gonna have to buy it off steam bah

Ive a ton of Boxed PC games to play through and the stack keeps on getting higher and higher due to me spending all my time playing shmups and retro games. Im not too bothered though cos theyll come in handy when big budget (non rts/mmo) PC games get even more rarer in the future. I love indie games but a man does need his blockbusters aswell

tried it years ago...not my thing....i generally only like 'arcade' games....

i think the only thing that really drew me to bioshock was the story and aesthetics of the world appealed to me, as well as the dark and twisted subject matter....kinda same deal with my like of the left4dead series....not particularly compelled by the fact that its a FPS...but add zombies to the mix and im instantly very interested

A great shooter that is more action then post halflife story driven fps games is Quake 2 (plus expantion packs) Although ive never played any of the first fps like duke nukem and doom that used 2d spites ove a 3d world, but i imagine quake2 to play like those, that is a fps thats fast paced, always at full throttle concerning the pacing off the game, unlike post HL games that have lots of imtermittant places with little or no action and most of all Quake 2 can be quite hard for a fps game the small sizes of the enemies making it harder to aim at them.

Im taking about the PC original not the console ports as videos ive seen of them has changed the difficulty to something easier, the enemies when they run up to u stand there for ages b4 they attack giving u ample time to aim and blow em away

If any of u chaps havnt played quake 2 on the pc i highly recommend u do. Even those who genrally arnt too keen on modern fps games should check it out.

Just watched a friend play through most of it (I've been preoccupied with Mass Effect 2) and it's certainly is excellent. A lot of the levels seem really thought out and the art/graphics is/are amazing! I will say the first one had the more interesting story but this may of been simply because it was new at the time. Still, as several have mentioned it's worth getting simply because it's one of the most interesting game worlds ever created.

well it starts shortley after the events of the first then there is a year jump of about 10 years. the main section you play is set in the year 1969 I think

I'm debating on this one still. I mostly enjoyed the first one and my interest in the second is piqued, but I don't really care for FPSes most of the time. We'll see how my wallet is feeling this coming weekend I guess.

give it 4 weeks and they will be poping up for a nice 2nd hand price by then. Since the multiplayer is really just not that hot at all.

If it's got the same shit gunplay and lack of upgrade paths as the original, count me out. System Shock 2 may have been loaded with junk, but it was intriguing junk, dangit.

On the HL1/HL2 debate: I still love playing HL1 mods as long as they're well done and use the scripting for effect, but the thing that brings it down is the weapon balance. Seriously, ~10 headshots to take down a Marine? The SMG is much weaker than the pistol...And you need some good cover to deal with Alien Grunts, but they'll still zap you a little. Refilling life through wall stations is annoying, can't go on rampages with the better guns due to ammo scarcity, and the alien arm gun thingy / pistol replacement is horrible (though a nice idea). Other than that, dang well done.

Bioshock 1 & 2 is like the best game this gen. It gives any Half-Life some big daddy drillin'.
