Solar Striker

Post by spadgy »

Shoot for the sun gentlemen and women, as we bring you the hi-score thread for Solar Striker for the Game Boy.

Image

Somewhat noteworthy as it’s one of the only Nintendo developed shooters.

This is a pretty basic, easy (until that level four boss!) STG, but well worth its low price if just for a few bus journeys' worth of blasting. And if you already have a copy – whip it out and get a score on this here table!

All defaults. There are two difficulties (Hard mode opens after you beat the game on easy, and is accessed by pressing select), so if we get any hard mode submissions, we'll start a new chart.

UPDATE: New Hard setting chart!

So - mention if you are playing on normal or hard setting.

Score format:
Name – Score – Stage

Here we go...

Solarest Strikers! - Normal

Code: Select all

1. tinotormed 615,900 ALL
2. Andi 571,700 ALL
3. stoka 567,900 ALL
4. Marble 513,700 ALL
5. chum 469,900 ALL
6. UGO 438,500 ALL
7. Zejiro 386,500 ALL
8. Dragoforce 384,400 ALL
9. Nifty 384,200 ALL
10.Damocles 375,700 ALL
11.spadgy 374,400 ALL
12.Herr Schatten 374,000 ALL
13.Skykid 371,600 ALL
14.Jockel 124,860 ST4
15.

Solarest Strikers! - Hard

Code: Select all

1. stoka 399,200 ALL
2. UGO 434,800 ALL
3. spadgy 140,900 ST4
4.

Hm, there used to be a high-score thread for this game but I guess it vanished in one of the many forum migrations. Shame, it had my ALL scores for both Normal and Hard modes...maybe I'll get around to playing this again on a lazy day.

I am indeed. spadgy's cheap Game Boy game odyssey is in full swing!

Ghegs - you say normal and hard mode, but I've found just the one mode on my cart. Something I'm missing?

EDIT: And dig out those scores Ghegs!

After you clear the game once you can start the Hard mode by pressing Select on the main screen.

Nice - I'll write that into the top post. Thanks Ghegs...

Fixed!

EDIT: New score on the bus:

spadgy - 168,900 - level 5

I finally crack that level four boss, and get bamboozled by five. If you get put off this game by the opening levels, push through to level 5 - damn intense for a GB shooter

Anyone have any tips on the level 4 boss? He's a real cocksucker.

Actually, forget it. I found the trick. Stay in the middle and move up and down to dodge while score massive direct hits! Ding!

Anyway...

Andi - 357,400 - all

Exactly where I was stuck. I'll have to go back to this now, after a bit of an absence. Started cycling to work means no Game Boy on the bus :(

Anyway - updated, and nice one Andi.

Jockel - 124.860 - Stage 4 Boss -.-" - Normal
played today at the way home from work in the train.
could have done it though, but a really disgusting, fat, old human being decided to sit next to me and practically occupy both our seats, which totally destroyed my ability to play.
PS: playing on the classic gameboy with crappy-vision(tm) adds to the challenge ;)

I hope it's fine for me to bump such an old topic. :)

Marble - 513,700 - ALL

If you can get past the fourth boss unharmed, then you can get heaps of points on the suicide enemies. In the process, you gain so many lives that the 1CC is practically free.

Skykid - 371,600 - All

Need to kill more stuff for better score.

The fourth stage boss was a little wall for me on this game, but I just sat down and went straight through the game unexpectedly. After I figured him out the rest was plain sailing.

I wish there was a life stock bonus at the end of the game - I finished with 6 remaining. :!:

A new score (on the train this time), and a embarrassing Hard mode score too.

I'll be back for more on Normal mode for sure.

Normal

spadgy - 374,400 - ALL

Hard

spadgy - 140,900 - ST4

A question. Did Solar Striker carts ever save? With mine, it doesn't remember my high score or the fact that I've unlocked hard mode, meaning I have to 1CC it every time I want to tackle the harder difficulty setting. I thought perhaps they once had a save function but an internal battery ran out?

updating now!
