No More Heroes 2
Dammit, why did it have to come out at the same time as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom?
I have to get around to beating the first game.

Re: No More Heroes 2
I wonder if the Bizarre Jelly 5 minigame should be posted about in the shmup forum?
It's pretty fun, and an easy 1CC.
Game is awesome, of course.

Yeah i started the game too and love it so far.
Rank 5 for me. ^_~
The BJ5 "game" is too easy and just one stage.
More would have been cool i guess.
But who cares, the overall game is awesome! (like cj said)

I'm looking forward to playing this, looks so good!

As a major Suda51 fan, I'm gutted that this doesn't have a European release date yet.

^ +1
Hopefully they'll keep all blood and awesome death animations intact this time around.

Ha! I just sold my Wii. I liked NMH1 but found it had zero replay value, and the other great titles felt very few and far between. Damn, there's not a single Nintendo console that's seriously held my interest since back in the day (IE SNES). Curious about Capcom vs Gatchaman or whatever, but it looks like a rehash of MvC2 with new characters. I can pass on that.

Re: No More Heroes 2
NMH has great replay value, because the boss fights are a blast.

I don't know if you're trolling or whatnot, but NMH had tons of replay value, and the sequel even more so, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom is awesome, and doesn't feel at all like a MvC2 rehash.CMoon wrote:Ha! But dammit, NMH2 just had to come out the day after TvC's release. I'm seriously broke.
I think you're just pissed that you sold your Wii.

I honestly thought I had unlocked about everything in one play through of NMH (with a bit of grinding and messing around) and didn't like the game mechanics enough to play it again. I liked the characters and look, but no, didn't feel like there was much of any reason to play it again. This is a clear opportunity for you to explain why I am wrong

As far as TvC (and I am actually a bit of a fan of the Gatchaman characters), it does look just like MvC2 to me...but in this regard I'm extremely opinionated. I seriously hate the gameplay of virtually every VS game short of capcom vs snk 2. I've played/owned most of them (but mastered few of them) and both in my game experience and the videos I've seen all the characters look very same-ish. I really doubt this game would suddenly make me enjoy the versus style of fighters, but please argue away why they're great. In fact, I wish you would since having sold the wii, I won't get a chance to play TvC. It would have been on my list, but the console just wasn't really going anywhere for me.
And if I can add here (without a total derail), I'm really disappointed with Capcom lately, to the point of losing any faith. While SF4 is good, what is the point of remaking SF2? TvC looks like the same tradition, probably a good game to those who like the vs games, but also offering nothing new. Please show me why I'm wrong. I have an open mind.
Definitely not, but I'd have probably purchased these games if I hadn't sold the console. They just aren't A++ titles for me. Anyway, unlike every other joe on the internet, I'm not a console whore. I'm not all broken up or envious about different consoles. I'm just curious about the games down another road I chose not to travel.I think you're just pissed that you sold your Wii

Re: No More Heroes 2
One thing I enjoy in NMH was that there was a certain kind of mastery involved in the Free Battles and certain assassin missions. I know the No Hit rule irked me, but once I got the final beam katana upgrade, you didn't need to recharge at all. In fact, there was a certain kind of strategy when it involved groups of thugs and you didn't have time to charge you low Charging A attack, so you'd have to decide whether to go for the quick combo or Lucha Libre each one then finisher. Maxing out your character didn't take you that long, but the benefit of doing so was great.
I'd disagree with TvC having "samish" characters, as I'd say never has the character roster been more distinct. Frank West is pretty good for setups, Zero's good for short range and definitely each of the Gatchman characters are very specialized. None of the character ever feel like clones, and it's very easy to hop into. Mastery is another matter, but if you're wondering about how tourney-worthy it is, take no look further than the EVO Championships (they fixed many of the problems from the original Cross Generation of Heroes in the US release).
And while you're arguing about fighters offering something new, why not include Super Street Fighter 4? Or Marvel vs. Capcom 2 HD? Or King of Fighters XII? Or those Guilty Gear games? At least TvC offered some new dynamics such as Baroque canceling (sacrifice red/recoverable life to cancel).
As for A++ titles, there's quite plenty to look forward to and most probably available ever since the time you sold it (such as the new Silent Hill game, while made by Climax, is pretty good). I'd argue I've been buying more Wii games than DS ever since my console purchase last Christmas and I already have plenty to look forward to this year.
Going back to No More Heroes 2, they got rid of the overworld hub and made everything selectable through a map, not to mention there's plenty of replay value now that it involves two more characters. I don't know if that's a deciding factor for you.

Re: No More Heroes 2
I actually did. I was even contemplating about starting a new thread regarding Capcom's inability to make anything new (and losing pretty much all the talent that was responsible for their most innovative titles.) Mind you, I enjoy SF4 and a lot of other titles you mentioned. I would no doubt enjoy TvC (though with the same problem that I don't like the pacing and game mechanics of the vs titles) and would certainly really enjoy NMH2. The issue for me is that NMH1 was a title I thought I was going to play more of, but once I saw the end credits, that was about it. I didn't end up feeling like the gameplay itself was terribly deep. On the other hand, Travis is one of the great video game characters and I liked the idea of it. *shrugs*sfried wrote: And while you're arguing about fighters offering something new, why not include Super Street Fighter 4?

Confirmation of European release. End of April apparently. Oh well, at least now we know it's coming.
