There's only a handful of shooting releases over 10 years old that are very hard to play: meaning the PCBs are at least attainable and somewhat affordable. Some that come to mind would be offbeat, like Scramble Spirits (24khz display and somewhat rare... and not all that sought after).
Other ones though, like Planet Harriers: there's no Hikaru driver in sight, and I've never once seen a board for sale. Even if you do, then you've got controller issues. There's still no near perfect way (all ports & MAME are noticeably flawed) to play Night Striker outside of the PCB (again, even if you have the money and patience to find one, you've gotta sort out an analogue controller).
I shed a tear all the time when I hear or read something regarding Planet Harrier. Absolutely want to play that game since I heard about it back in the Dreamcast days.
I'm glad After Burner Climax is coming out though.
Interesting topic, didn't notice it until now although it's mainly a disappointing subject. Most bases have been covered so far (Raizing) so I throw in my two cents.
Viper Phase 1, Raiden 2 NEW, Zero Gunner, Cyvern, Brave Blade, Sengeki Striker, and G-Stream G2020.
Double Wings (Mitchell) : Somewhat like an unofficial prequel to the Raiden series, with a WWII setting. The EOS bonus is similar to Raiden's, as are the boss battles. You choose from one of three planes similar to the later 19XX. MAME32FX's recent build (0.136) will play it, even though it claims the game isn't working. I'd like to see Mitchell take a break from Magnetica/PuzzLoop at least long enough to port this to XBLA/PSN/VC.
Agreed. Twin Eagle got a port on NES. But.. it's about as far from the arcade version as possible.
A "Seta Shooting Collection" would be awesome, including those games + Arbalester & Tokusyu Butai U.A.G.

The arcade TE isn't bad. As for the NES port - it lacks the intensity of the arcade. TE is a game that should have been saved for one of the 16-bit systems.

Not on consoles, but it was ported to many home computers. The Amiga version is close enough to the arcade original (except you could only select music OR fx... then again, at the arcades one usually doesn't hear much anything but noise).
Before Pope John Paul died he decreed that Aliens were also GOD's creatures and we should treat them with respect.
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!
Sega tried and failed. Nintendo didn't even try. (c) Specineff
