Which emulators offer decent gameplay video recording?

Post by EinhanderZwei »

Yes, I wanna make a HCG101's Ode To Shmups ripoff  8)
Which PC emus do have good video recording capabilities? Sound quality is not totally necessary, as I'm obviously going to turn it off for recording

Thanks in advance, guys 8)
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!

You mean en emulator with built-in recorder? I remember using one but it was terrible, the framerate drops a lot during recording and the resulting file was huge.

You're better off using Hypercam2 or Fraps IMO.

I recorded a "video" in MAME once and it worked OK but the file was an .MNG which apparently is a bunch of .PNGs stuck together. There was a utility to expand it into a series of PNG files which I then turned into an AVI with VirtualDub.

Just use CamStudio+$EMULATOR_NAME. Doesn't take up a lot of processor time too, so you can play at [mostly] full speed.

If speed's an issue, just do a normal keyrecord, and use CamStudio while playing the replay back.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
