whats the best arcade in london?
i have fond memories of playing classics like atari star wars, rampage, 3 screen ninja warriors, sega r360, dragons lair, simpsons, street fighter 1 with stress pad buttons, even the crappy sega hologram game. but where can i play them now? i used to go in casino on tot court rd alot but thats rubbish now. i hear theres a namco station. is it mostly new stuff?

Casino arcade in London? idk, never been or lived there but the thread about it in shmupmeets is pretty active for it. And I think they have mushi1 which is enough reason for me for it to be a great arcade

They had Mushihimesama last time I went there.
Namco Station is full of nothing that great.
Funland/trocadero is my favourite - but I like fighting games and beatmania (even if it is only a 3rd style minicab).

Casino - Shmups (currently Dodonpachi DFK, Zed Blade, Strikers 1945, Raiden DX...and I'm probably missing a few more) and fighting games like SF4, BlazBlue, Guilty Gear
Trocadero - Most variety. Dance games, beatmania, DJ Technika, shooting games, fighting games etc.
Namco Station - Only plus point for me about this place over Troc is the fact that they have Razing Storm.

Where are the shmups in your post?
Casino had Mushi 1 but it stopped working
it used to be my timewaster/filler too. However there are lots of other games there.
Beatmania1 3rd feels too out of date now, and I do wonder why the Troc doesn't have a Razing Storm.. I've not played it at the Namco yet.

If you attend the California Extreme show, a lot of those exact childhood arcade memories can be found at that classic arcade game and pinball game show. http://www.caextreme.org
Here's the list of classic arcade game cabs shown at the 2009 CAX show: http://www.caextreme.org/games2009
Someone even brought in a Sega Hologram Time Traveler cab...another one of those classic Rick Dyer LD games from 1991 for last years 2009 CAX show.

Is there an arcade in London which gets the new "blockbusters", like Sega Rally 3, House Of The Dead 4, Rambo, Sega Racing Classic, ... ?
All arcades here in Austria are pretty much dead. The only new game they got in the last 10 years was After Burner Climax.

As long as arcade machines offer nothing over a home console release arcades will be dead.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Trocadero actually gets some new machines once in a while.antares wrote:Is there an arcade in London which gets the new "blockbusters", like Sega Rally 3, House Of The Dead 4, Rambo, Sega Racing Classic, ... ?
Troc actually DID have Razing Storm for a while. Then it just vanished.Smraedis wrote: Beatmania1 3rd feels too out of date now, and I do wonder why the Troc doesn't have a Razing Storm.. I've not played it at the Namco yet.

Oh I know, I played my first 3 credits of the full game there.. I'd just like to take the scores on one in LondonSpiderift wrote:Troc actually DID have Razing Storm for a while. Then it just vanished.Namco Station's the only place I know that has it in London right now.

Re: whats the best arcade in london?
Yeah Troc does get the odd new release, its pretty good for the larger games too like Afterburner Climax and the Large sit down versions of Outrun and other racing games.
Casino is the best place for shmups and fighters that i know of. ATM we have DoDonPachi DF in a cab, Zed Blade Tatsujin II and Dogyun. Fighterwise they have a six cab set-up of SFIV about 320 million other versions of Street Fighter a few King of Fighters, Guilty Gear (not sure of the version) Blaz Blue Tekken (6 i think? the new one) and other fighters plus other stuff (like the worlds worst coffee machine!)
Classic( or vintage) stuff wise it is a little thin on the ground but there is a multi game cab with all the old classics like Galaga and Galaxians and Ms Pac-Man etc.

Re: whats the best arcade in london?
is casino the place where theres coin drop games by the entrance, they used to have a few arcades to the left. and slot machines at the back. i used to go there all the time to play street fighter zero, snk v capcom and svc chaos nice sit down cabs with huge screens. i just cant find stuff in trocadero. so many twists and turns. they still have mulit neo cabs?
Re: whats the best arcade in london?
Casino is the place to go, so if that's not good enough you're out of luck! It's been quite busy recently and has a fairly good selection of shmups and fighters. If you come down you might want to visit the thread in Shmupmeets thread and drop a line for the regulars (I live quite far away but I go down when I can).
Troc is awful and I would only go there for lightgun and rhythm games. If I liked either.
