There isn't much to go on here without a gameplay video or more details. I hope it turns out to be a good game.

* Cutting-edge 3D graphics
* Over 40 levels spread across 10 different environments
* Over 20 upgradeable weapons
* Over 50 different enemy types

* Upgradeable ships
* Online player statistics
* Unlockable bonus levels
* Over 90 minutes of modern and retro fusion music
* Co-op Single Player
That's a euroshmup feature list right there. Also, what's co-op single player? Is it single player...or is it co-op? Make up your mind. Maybe they forgot a comma.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Not a fan of the art style. The whole neon sign aesthetic doesn't really do anything for me. I'll reserve judgment on the game as a whole until I play a demo, but I'm a little iffy on this one.

...Eclosion has a music soundtrack with a blend of modern and authentic retro music created on analogue retro synthesizers like the original SID chip on the Commodore 64.
I'll keep track of this game based on this alone.

Screenshots might indicate whack-a-mole design, but at least it looks like it doesn't use both analog sticks (single player co-op).

Same here....was hoping they meant more Korg MS-20 than SID though!

Maybe the 'single player co-op' meant playing with two ships at the same time using one pad... Maybe, maybe? Of course, we have Duality for that.

But a two player mode is more than welcomed.

I think there is a health bar in one of those screens, another sign of euroschmukmup. Unless the health bar is a lie like in Protöthea for PC (ie: one crash or 2 hits and you are dead, back to the beginning of the mission). Now we need a ship-sized hitbox, slow speed and inertia and it's full house!

HOWEVER, it's coming for PC too so I'm not going to pass judgement as I'll probably end up buying it, especially if they put out a retail version (with the OST or something, who knows), and I hope that'll be the case.

I noticed on some boards, the co-op during adventure mode for Super Smash Bros. Melee and the similar mode for Brawl were called "co-op single player", despite how that's an oxymoron.

I'm gonna assume the "Co-op Single Player" just means being able to play through the Single Player campaign with another person. Why they didn't just call that Co-Op mode, I have no idea.

The screens arent very enticing. At any one time you have to deal with 6 things on the screen. I do like the colors though. They look pretty.

There's a trailer...

Looks very questionable to me. At least on XBLA there will be a demo...

It's as I feared: All neon colors/particle effect overload. Result? It is difficult to tell what is going on onscreen. I was hoping seeing it in motion would change my initial impression. No such luck. When will this annoying design trend die?

Looks kind of lifeless. Uninspired shitty techno music confirmed, or do we get that uninspired shitty quasi-orchestral music from the trailer instead?

Seriously though, I'll wait for the demo before judging it blah blah blah.

Probably not for a number of years, since Geometry wars was such a success.

My thoughts exactly. Its unfortunate, because for Geometry Wars the style worked and seemed fresh. Part of that was due to the extreme simplicity of the game's design. I don't think this art style works for a scrolling shmup at all...particularly one where it looks like there might be significant firepower on screen. I have a big problem with design that artificially increases the difficulty of a game...such as "artistic" decisions that make enemy fire impossible to see. There are a few levels in RFJ that I despise for this very reason ( even though I like the overall art style of that game ).

It worked but its still annoying, especially in the 2nd one.

Player shots go over enemy shots, ugh.

Also messy particle effects obscure what is happening.

No, this doesn't look very good at all.

We don't take kindly to your type 'round these parts. >:O

Kidding. If anything you'll grow out of the euroshmup thing eventually :P

Doubt it, seeing as they're trying to drag it kicking and screaming to every other major console as well.

That's right, someone is putting money behind this one.

Hide your wallets. >_>

Doesnt it make you question why they denied your XOP game now? This game seriously has nothing going for it. If they somehow made it like bit trip beat...perhaps it would be worth while. As it stands now the screen shots are so mediocre it makes kill babies seem fun.

Stuff like this is coming to XBLA, but mushihime-sama, DDP DOJ, etc. get rejected? Why am I sensing xenophobia? If this actually gets on, I'm going to be furious.

It will. It won't be the first time trash has entered this shitty service.

Not really, the GFX in XOP Black looks like udderst crap :wink:
Udderdude really should get a decent GFX artist on board...

If Udderdude wants it on a western download service he should change the style to something generic like this thing. Westerners love all shades of brown, gray and green neon... :mrgreen:

MS doesn't want ports on his service anymore. It's all about "original" developments. That's why arcade games are not allowed anymore on XBOX Live Arcade...
