So if the sound is sharper than the original game, it's an obvious difference. If the sound is brighter, it could be a limitation of the original arcade machine or console vs. the emulated sound output from the machine running an emulation, but there is still a difference.
It appears you've missed all the points I made.

If the emulator you are using is up-sampling, then don't blame emulation in general. Again, look at drivers used by MAME that are rated "good":
http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/srch.php?stat=1

Then go play these with some decent sound equipment that provides some sort of equaliser function, and not tinny PC or TV built-in speakers.

And stop harping on emulation in general because you've played some poor PS2 ports.

Now that this thread is totally derailed, there is one thing I have noticed about FM emulation: the feedback doesn't ever seem to sound the same. The guitars in TF4 on most Genesis emulators I've tried is a good example. I'm not sure if the problem is that the amount of feedback is wrong, or whether it's that the rate at which the audio is rendered differs (high-feedback effects are very dependent on sampling rate). But, the sound problems in emulators are generally negligible compared to video issues.

BTW if it's Genesis we're talking about, keep in mind that the amp is extremely lo-fi and crappy, which may add to the "weight" of the sound.

I wouldn't say that, but it would help to not push it off.

NOOOO! You think it has bad controls too?!

False alarm and agreed again.

TFIII was one heck of an experience back in 1990.

Thunder Force Gold Pack 2 is one of Saturn's greatest assets.
Easter egg? Otherwise, Gold Pack 2 is indeed a great investment. Pardon the sound issues, it's the best way to fly for TF4 I'd say. No 99 lives either. Not to mention as has been addressed in the past, using Styx in TF4 is a nice bonus.

Hold down one of the buttons when the portraits of the ship in the hangar, and the close up character portraits, are on the screen. It's either the "A", "B" or "C" button (I believe it's "C"). You'll see the Easter egg.

Thanks for tip. I'll have to try that sometime in the near future. Funny, yet another reason to play/clear/enjoy TF3 and no complaints on my end.

You were born too late for the series. Importing and playing these games when they were first released was a revelation.

Trying to discover their magic now for the first time, for most non-retro minded players these days, is probably not gonna happen.
I dunno, launching TF4 on a big ass CRT screen is really something. While not as technologically advanced as say, neo geo games, it really is one of the most beautiful 2D games.
Agreed. Definitely one of the 16-bit era's most "pretty" games.

And with the music coming through good speakers as you blast away, it's simply one of the best 16-bit shmup experiences out there. It hits you visually, aurally, and then slaps you upside the head with great levels and a solid challenge for good measure.

Do you mean the "Crying Time, Hit The Road Jack" etc in the bottom-right corner of the ruined Rynex image, Coop? I remember something like that, but didn't find anything on it here either.
Hmm...that kind of hidden message also appear on TF V, on the background of the last boss battle which is said`s (as far as i remember):" We looking forward for the next Challenge. Thank You for Playing and have a nice day" on the left side and "Produced by Tecnosoft" on the right side.

Btw...are you guys gonna buy TF model that would be sell on mid of February of this year ? :D

For now there just Amiami.com and HLJ.com that serve online orders.Dunno about Amiami.com but HLJ it self haven`t included the shipping cost estimate, at least it think until the product officially release.

Due to people's attitudes towards those who cannot 1LC TF3 on Mania using their ass-cheeks, I have left that game. If I'm gonna play TF now it'll most likely be 2, 4, or 5.
