Granted, i dont play much in this zenbudokaitenkaichikungfukartekakusei mode and that could be the problem...
My sentiments exactly even down to the big boat part. It almost feels like the battleship in stage 3 of Ketsui.

I sort of had the same "I can't REALLY get into this" problem with ESPGaluda 1. I think it's due to the fact that it's just not as visceral as some of the other Cave games. It's more about being cerebral with your scoring, while DOJ seems more like you can actually feel the explosions. It's just a more exciting experience playing DOJ vs. the more calculated ESPGaluda, if you get my drift. Still looking forward to this game as I DO like the first one. And hell, I'd buy any region free / localized Cave game, even if it was one I'm pretty sure I don't like, like Ibara.

I see what you mean. One of the reasons I didn't really get into Espgaluda 1 when I tried (it wasn't for long, though, so I will try again) was that I had to ponder what should I do at a given moment during the play, which disrupted me more than necessary. I guess I'll try another control scheme and try to not enter kakusei reactively.

(Another reason is that hitbox location is awful. There is no excuse for having hitbox off the vertical center. I blame Ra.De. for the same thing.)

For me it's not exactly that it's too cerebral but rather that it doesn't have the explosive quality of DDP. Ideally a game would have both, but those two games are mostly either/or.

I dunno, a screen full of 100x's is pretty awesome to me. And I don't see a real significant difference in the number of explosions between Galuda and DDP. Well, I guess some things explode into a pile of blood in Galuda. But I like that part.

Also, if you aren't play Galuda 2 for score then I wouldn't be surprised that you don't enjoy the game. Much of the appeal of the game is how deep and challenging the scoring system is. It'd be like playing Virtua Fighter just to mash buttons against the AI. Er, sort of.

I didn't mean explosive as in "number of explosions," it's just rather hard to explain. It's just a sort of solid satisfaction feel to the gameplay itself, rather than from correctly scoring.

And I will play for score once/if I get it. I play all their games for score, except Mushi 1 which just had a garbage scoring system imo.

Well yes, that's certainly fair. Galuda has a very different feel to it than the DDP series has.

Thank god, wouldn't be any point to multiple series if the mechanics were all the same

I instantly fell for the first Galuda, mostly because controlling bullet speed is something I enjoyed a lot with Choas Field and Galuda does a much better job with it. Are there any other games which allow you to slow down and speed up enemy bullets?

I definitely understand why the methodical gameplay might hamper some players enjoyment of the game. Compared to the Pachi series, it is probably one of the most distant Cave games I've played in terms of mechanics. Another great thing is how important those darn emeralds are, unlike most games where collecting gems/gold is purely for points, I often burt out "NEED MORE EMERALDS!!!" before I grow boobs, can't say that about many games that's for damn sure.

my only complaint about Galuda is how the very end of the game destroys me, that final boss attack is where I'm stumped. Then there is arrange mode, which is in many ways an even better game despite having only seen up to level three, some day... some day...

Yeah the game jumps in difficulty pretty hard at the final boss. There's a trick to the most of the final boss's patterns though. The last pattern in particular is much, much easier than it looks.

1- Strange, the stage 5-1 seems o hardest boss in game, this bitch have any nasty attacks.
2- Well, I would like know any tips, because most of the final boss's patterns is hard for me.
3- Yes, this seems the easier in whole last form of boss.

Cool!

Who said i didn't get into Galuda 1?
I love the first Galuda to death, but the second one feels totally different.
Just don't assume that you will love Galuda 2 because you liked the first one.

I swear, I'm refreshing the NCSX page every couple of hours, waiting for the update on LE ordering information...

Hopefully if any one of us finds out anything it will wind up here very quickly. I've never ordered an LE before but I'm so psyched for this game that I'm gonna jump on it, if I get the opportunity.

The first one is not just my favorite Cave shmup...it's one of my favorite video games, ever. (see http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/review/R85310.html) And everything I've seen of the second one looks like bigger, better, faster, more. My frothing demand for this game increases.

I check everyday and they usually post changes at 11:30am-12:00pm Eastern Standard time every week day.

I've been waiting too as I want to be one of the first to pre-order the LE as well :).

It looks like all of the menu options are in English. Only the subtitles that explain each option are in Japanese.

This was the way the Futari menus worked also.

Sorry, but I just don't get the "do want" vibe from those screens. I'm even more exited about the DOJ-BLEX patch than ESPGALUDA II. :(
Also, the blog post went on about that CAVE event on the 27th. Can't wait to see more of the Ketsui port.

You have to be a real caveman to get a hard-on from a bunch of menu screenshots :P

Did you or did you not just coin a new term to refer to diehard enthusiasts of all Cave games? =)

It's a Japan-only game of a niche genre, which could possibly end up being region locked. The tutorials are going to be in Japanese. Deal with it.

I'd rather just complain about a Japanese game having Japanese text instead.
