Location test at Hey over the next week. Could this be the final SH3 game? How much did brand new sh3 games run btw? Either way I'm now quite excited for the weekend and hope some footage gets leaked.

"A brief overview of the main points indicated, feel free to correct/elaborate:

-there's a new shooting mode called "red" (reddo, 烈怒). You enter that mode by pressing A+C. It's a combination of shoot+lasers, and apparently it produces the highest amount of damage (this is quite reasonable).

-Hitting enemies in red mode fills up the upper left gauge. When the gauge is filled to the indicated threshold, enemy fire doubles. When it is filled up to almost 4/5, the kanji 烈怒 flashes and real hell begins. The blogger calls this situation "red zone". While in the red zone, bullets are almost twice as fast and bullet patterns are 3 to 5 times harder. Basically this will make some people change their way of playing, in that most players enter laser mode by pressing A while C is still being pressed down.


Something on hypers:

-while not in red mode, hyper meter doesn't build up, or it does very little.

-while in red mode, hypers last very little time.

-hit counter doesn't increase if you're not in red mode

-basically, if you're not in red mode you cannot score.

-some enemies produce their bullet cancelling effect, as explaned by adverse.

-auto bomb can be turned on/off at ship selection screen

-all three styles are there: notice that if you select strong style, from stage 1-1 you get the same amount of enemy fire as in Omote 2-1. (I beleieve he's referring to daifukkatsu 1.5 here). He says that it feels like the enemies are in strong style, not the player.

-Styles are comparable to difficulty modes now: comparing to Mushifutari, this translates to bomb -> original, power -> maniac, strong -> ultra.

-NO EXTENDS? This seems to be specific to the location test version, maybe..."

White Label Daifukkatsu 1.5 'Bomb Mode' and 'Strong Mode' has auto bomber. Both 1.0 and 1.5 have no power ups, just like Deathsmiles. Good riddance, I say :)

Well, which version doesn't have autobomb?


I don't agree. It seems like they're just stripping it down to it's basics. No power ups, and you don't even have to plan when you bomb! Blah...
I really like powerups, or some kind of fever mode...but that autobomb is a game killer for me.

DS had other things to make up for the no-powerups. Like it's awesome fever mode, lock on shots, and options.

Neither of them have have auto bomb if you pick 'power mode'

Only 1.5 has the *option* for autobomber, though this is the only one you're likely to find in an arcade, so it's a moot point.

And Daifukkatsu has hyper mode, which is infinitely more interesting (and spectacular!) than Deathsmiles fever mode. I'd probably try the game before you decide you don't like it...

Anyway, back on topic, a Black Label would be an interesting experience. Black Labels in the past have tended to make the game more accessible to the casual player (like the way Daioujou shrunk the hitbox, or Futari swapped Ultra for God mode and relaxed the scoring a little), but also more rewarding for the experienced player (more hypers in DOJ, more scoring opportunities in Deathsmiles). I don't really see how CAVE could make the game any easier, so I'm hoping they just tighten the scoring in whatever interesting way they please, and add an Ultra Mode or something :D

You aren't really criticising it because your complaints have no basis. You only need to look at one video to see it does have a Fever Mode with the infinitely cooler bullet cancelling Hyper, for example. And minor digging would reveal that auto-bomb isn’t in Power Mode (well it is, but there’s only 5 bombs in the loop), it’s still better to devote yourself to a bomb, there is a Ikaruga style system with using lasers to cancel other lasers (only it's not so... black and white (oh yeah)) that’s better than any of the listed Deathsmiles perks, and that it’s full of secret scoring tricks and bosses. What’s more your posts are all about the current and old version of the game, for which there is another 38 page topic with all these answers.

I've never played it.
I was just asking if it had autobomb and no power ups, which I thought was the case. I was half wrong(kinda).
I don't like autobomb, so i'm glad you can get rid of that.
Didn't know it had a fever mode.

Didn't like the attitude of aforementioned poster.

Good news, hopefully the Vanilla boards will start dropping Deathsmiles style. A port would be the nuts too, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'm pretty much 100% sure we'll see the 360 graced with one and all the black label bizness will be included.

I seriously cannot wait to see some footage of black label here...I wonder if bomb/strong styles will still have autobomb, I'd prefer to be able to play them without.

I can't wait to see how this turns out. DOJ Black Label was probably the least "different" of all the BL games, so I'm curious to see how much they'll change for DFK Black Label.

I'm hoping for the exact opposite. Watching the superplay DVDs of DFK was quite dissapointing, once I saw almost every boss's shot patterns being hypered through with no real penalty, and the levels were pretty similarly raped. Sure, Hibachi's very last pattern was a bitch as usual, but everything else was just "lol". They need to go back to basics and get rid of the constant hyper spam.

How could they even top DFK without adding something ridiculous like hypered hyper mode? :P

I'm not sure I need to play it to see the highest level of the game (aka what's on the superplay DVDs, which I watched with these things called eyeballs) is silly hyper spam.

Outside of a few select spots in Power Mode using a Hyper once your counter has hit 10,000, which super players should hit easily before the stage mid-boss, is completely detrimental to your score. Hyper spam within a stage (or either second loop) actually makes the game harder in Hyper as bullets stop cancelling (more so in Bomb/Strong) and make impassable walls of slow bullets. Players Hypering bosses to milk them should be dodging several other patterns in between while doing their hardest to not damage it. And, obviously, being hit and auto-bombing drops your chain and completely kills any score potential for that stage in typical DoDonPachi style. These are either random nicovideos or the inital first super-play. Most people are Hypering all the time because it's difficult, it doesn't score well.

Nice- glad to hear about another 2d game coming out. From the vids I've seen of DS2 it didn't pull me in so much.

Sidetrack- in BL DFK I really hope they can make the chain numbers a little smaller. Don't know why that bugged me so much :P
