I just wanted to let everyone know that I received my copy today.

Why is this news? I ordered from Play-Asia using their slow "bubble envelope" shipping method. I'm in New York.
So anyone else who also used this shipping method should be getting their copies any day now, if they haven't already.
Nice, thanks for the info! I'm guessing I won't see mine until next week due to being in the middle of bloody nowhere, but it's good to know that the slow-shipped copies are starting to arrive.
Been playing this to ease the pain of having to wait for Futari to arrive via economy air.
I received my copy from PA exactly seven days after it shipped. There was a Sunday in there, and Thanksgiving as well, so it might or might not have been slightly less under different circumstances.

Great news guys, be sure to post some pictures up so we can see what the package looks like when you find it on the doormat, and snap one of your postman too if possible!

On a serious note though, I appreciate that you're excited about your game like kids at christmas, but, regardless of whether you've just joined the forum or otherwise, the shipping updates are totally inane. It's not news, whether you live in New York or Montreal, Hawaii or the Himalayas, whether you had it bubble wrapped or opted for shipping by camel.
Nobody really gives a shit when you get it, or whereabouts your package is in transit.
Just get it, play it, then tell everyone what you think of it.

Does anyone know why I can't see the cursor when I'm replying to a thread. This is insane typing without a cursor.
ffs...
Hey, you're kind of a dick. I'm curious when people get their copies and the cursor wasn't showing up. You shouldn't feel better about yourself because I can't figure out what the deal is with the cursor.

Should be perfectly possible with a bit of RGB knowledge. Indeed, if the cocktail cab is Jamma, it should be as simple as finding a 360/Jamma converter and plugging it in. Mapping the controls will require a bit more expert knowledge though unless you're happy playing with a pad - but that's only half the fun.

Definitely worth a pic of that if you ever get it sorted.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

You are wrong.

People who don't have their copy yet sometimes like to know when other folks who used the same vendor, shipping method etc. get theirs. I was checking this thread often exactly for that reason. When it turns out I was one of the first who used PA/bubble to get it, I posted. I was thanked.

This is a public forum, and different people look here for different reasons. Just because you personally think information isn't useful or relevant doesn't mean that it doesn't belong here.

As we all receive the game, this sort of post will not appear anymore.

The things preventing you from doing what you may want to with the copy you own (reverse engineering the unlockable content) have more to do with the DMCA than with traditional copyright law (yes, I am an attorney; no, this is not legal advice; consult your attorney about your specific situation before taking any action).
Thanks, that's reassuring… I guess.

It's nothing personal, but it is getting a little old. I'll accept that there are plenty of guys who are interested in reading about other people's shipping information, if you'll accept that there are plenty more who would rather hear feedback about the port itself.

So far the only complaint I have is that there isn't an easy way to check your high scores. Aside from that, it's spot on.

Well, yeah. This *is* the Shmups forum, not the shipping forum after all. But we've got to get our hands on the game before we can enjoy it, and it's because of our passion for these games that we want to know *exactly* when we're going to get our copies. =) (This despite some of us being "cheap," willing to shell out for the game itself but not wanting to pay for such things as trackable or expedited shipping.)

As for the game itself, I only had 15 minutes to check it out yesterday but the redrawn graphics are beyond gorgeous and the variety of options--both in the presentation and the game itself--is really, really impressive. I'm really looking forward to seeing whether I'm in the "1cc Novice Ultra" club. I'm curious, though...I think someone mentioned earlier that there were some complaints, mostly from Japanese players, about port accuracy. Were there a lot of these?

On a totally unrelated note:

Does anyone know where I can find the translated track names for both discs of the soundtrack? I want to rip mp3's so I don't inadvertently scratch the discs or something equally stupid, but I also don't want to just title the tracks as "Stage 1" etc.

First hit on Google. It also lists the artists for each individual track.

Or, I submitted a romanized tracklist (not sure of its accuracy) to freedb a couple days ago. I also submitted AccurateRip results if you're into that sort of thing.

Well, I feel like a complete moron. All of the hits I was getting were just links to forum posts all over the internet about how the LE was including the soundtrack.

Some of you guys on this forum are way too uptight. I appreciated the news that somebody who bubble shipped theirs got it in, because to my knowledge mine still hasn't come in and I'm frothing at the mouth here. Just chill out and scroll down the page. I sit here hoping for updates all the time. If it were up to me this topic would be moving 3x as fast. It's no surprise that shmups are such a niche genre when half of you act like jackalope retards all the time. "Ted you did not 1CC Futari and you are not playing for score get the hell out of my house you waste of life." Just chill the fuck out.

Anyways, I'm not sure if I wanna play novice when I get it, I feel like it might spoil the magic of getting to the next stage, etc. But then again I probably will. Just because I can, mostly. Also because you guys are saying it's actually great fun on ultra.

I no missed Novice Ultra and scored close to a billion on my first try. I think aiming to score above that would be pretty tedious though, that time I'd much rather spend in Arrange Ultra (because it has more sparkly).

I'd actually think it would be interesting if we took a formal poll on who did and didn't 1CC Novice Ultra on their first try... and if it's a good or bad thing that so many people seem able to do it. (I'm a little upset that I fell short of a no miss by 2 hits, following several autobombs and a few manual ones trying to destroy all the damn lanterns.)

CaptainRansom, it's all about the search query, mine was "mushihimesama double arrange tracklist".

yyr, you got my hopes up that I would get my copy today since I'm in Brooklyn, but it never showed.

Bloodflowers, can we get some more videos please. You did a great job with the first vid.

edit: and maybe the bickering could be split off into another thread?

The problem is that knowing when other people get their copies tells you jack shit about what'll happen to yours. Case in point: my roommate (i.e., a person who lives exactly where I do) ordered cheapo shipping and had it shipped on Wednesday. It arrived on Monday. I also got cheapo shipping, and it shipped last Wednesday, and my copy has yet to arrive. So some random dude claiming to be from New York receiving his copy has no bearing on your own situation, and any attempts to connect them is self-deluding rationalization. Shit like this is why Twitter exists, go use it.

They should have kept this game region-locked so us jackalope retards wouldn't have our 1cc parties spoiled by self-righteous casuals...

Novice mode offers the easiest Cave 1CC's you could hope for. Even Ibara's PS2 Arrange mode (the previous contender in my eyes) took me 10 tries or so. At least Arrange offers a unique twist on the normal gameplay. I appreciate the accessibility for new players, but this almost goes too far. I think Deathsmiles did it better, with a more "choose your own adventure" style. A new player could start out on a level 1 stage, but then dip their toe in with a 2 or 3 as they go along. Difficulty just felt more integrated in that system. Here, there's definitely a line between "The Real Game" and everything else.

Exactly.

It ain't called novice for nuthin! :o

I don't think it's a bad thing that people are or aren't 1ccing on their first goes, either way the intention is for it to be very easy going. Cave have been moving toward easier gaming (or in most cases, the option of) for a while, evident in both Daifukkatsu and Deathsmiles. Futari was a little before they were willing to try to attract non-hardcore players with very easy options, and the standard arcade mode is fairly tough (ultra = impossible) - so I'm not surprised the arrange mode is dumbed down.

It's a good idea though, and regardless of ease, I'm sure playing for score will make it fun for everyone.

Heres the original Futari Soundtrack in Romanji and Kana as well if you want it. The English translations are done by me but my Japanese is not perfect so some of the translations may be iffy. 3 years of Japanese does not a master make. I especially think I translated the Boss theme wrong (Kodou doesnt translate well for its title) and I think Stage 3's theme is supposed to be in the form of a question (they are asking if Shinju is in the army). And yes I know usually "naku" means to cry but for some reason everyone likes "howl" as the standard for the last bosses song title. Also if anyone has a better translation for "Koudamashi no Sora" please list it lol. My kanji skills still suck so feel free to correct any mistakes.

Track 1 - The Prince, Age 9 (Select) / Oujisama 9 Sai / 王子さま9歳
Track 2 - Setting Off Together (Stage 1) / Tabitachi no Futari / 旅たちのふたり
Track 3 - A Throbbing Beast (Boss Theme) / Kemono Taru Kodou / 獣たる鼓動
Track 4 - Hooray! (Stage Clear) / Yatta! / やった!
Track 5 - The Frozen Crystal Sea (Stage 2) / Kogoeru Suishou no Umi / 凍える水晶の海
Track 6 - Shinju is in the Forest Rebel Army? (Stage 3) / Shinju ga Mori no Hanrangun / シンジュが森の反乱軍
Track 7 - The Black Armor Wearing Beast King (Stage 4) / Shikkoku no Koukemono Ou / 漆黒の甲獣王
Track 8 - The Brink of Madness (Stage 5) / Kuruoshii Hodo Ni / 狂おしいほどに
Track 9 - Howl! Yell! (Last Boss) / Nake! Wameke! / 泣け!わめけ!
Track 10 - Sweet(smell?) Soul Sky (Secret TLB Music) / Koudamashi no Sora / 香魂の空
Track 11 - Throw Aside (Game Over Screen) / Sutete Koma / 捨てて駒
Track 12 - I Want to Protect You (High Score Entry) / Mamotte Agetai / 守ってあげたい
Track 13 - Unseen Warmth (Credits) / Mienai Atatakai / 見えない暖かい
Track 14 - The Golden Star Falling in the Night (Bonus Track) / Kiniro no Hoshi Furu Utakata no Yoru ni / キンイロの星降るうたかたの夜に

Take those translations as you will. I am sure there are better ones out there.

I'm just going off what I've seen for translated names (since I don't know enough Japanese to even try to do it myself) but every translation I've seen has "Bestial Beat" for the boss name, which is both fitting and awesomely alliterative. And I think "We Did It!" is better for the stage clear track.

As for stage 3, I thought (based on the song titles from the first game) that Shinju was the name of the forest? I've never seen a rendering in English that I thought sounded particularly good, either way. It's hard to work with I guess.

Also, this game is awesome. Somebody have that cave blog email address handy? I've been meaning to send them a little message but I don't want to dig through the past 30 pages until I find it.

That's just for scores submitted to Xbox Live, not the ones saved to memory, unless it doesn't save scores overall. After you die an input your initials you can scroll through the different modes, but it only gives you scores from that day.

That would be why I kept coming up with "smell". Yeah fragrance works much better though. Sky of Fragrant Souls then. Like I said I am no expert.

Also I went to a bud's house today to try it out and I did not notice any slowdowns outside of what the normal usually was.

Aren't there All-Time and Todays score tables like DeathSmiles had?
