Today I finally tried to rotate my TV. Played some Gunbird 2 and was amazed how I dodged some patterns (even without too many problems) that I could never manage before. I only have 3 tate-able games, so I tried Under Defeat next... and yeah it´s truely awesome. A huge difference to before, especially on my small TV.

I could pull off a very good run on the 2nd try, but the rank destroyed me. In total not so much better than before, but at least 3 spots up. :)

Battletoad - 1,255,590 - 1-4 - reverse

Possibly reverse is better for me after all. Don´t know, still can´t really decide on one rotation type... I think I´ll try to stick with reverse now.
On this run I died with still two bombs in stock. Not so bad anyway, the motivation to get further is definitely there. ;)

I have to practice stage 4 now, stage 3 is also far from perfect.

Battletoad - 1,393,640 - 1-4 - normal

What the hell, still can´t decide on one rotation type...
Reverse is better for the bosses, but normal just feels way more natural overall.

However, reached the stage 4 boss for the first time. The stage itself felt a bit better in this run, some passages are cruel, but some others are quite easy. Still a lot of work to do. And I think I´ll go on with Strikers 1945 first after I got my new USB pad, so I´ll save this for later.

using my tate 23" lcd seems to work wonders for me. I'm also not afraid of bomb spamming like I used to be.

Got clipped by the 3rd Boss's missile >_<

Hey, alright! Welcome to the board :)

Bomb spamming is, indeed, quite the useful tactic in Under Defeat. Just be sure not to destroy a contribution enemy with one, or it won't count ^_-

Lately Mars Matrix pissed me off a little (or simply my skills in it ^^), so let me climb up some spots here.

Battletoad - 1,773,250 - 1-5 - normal

The beginning of stage 5 is like one of the most awesome things ever. Got to play ~10 credits during the last days and suprisingly got to the plane midboss, at first with a crappy score and then 2 more times. I also could eliminate some smaller problems in stage 2 and master the speedkilling of the 3rd boss. The stage needs too much bombing though, I´m almost more comfortable with stage 4 meanwhile.

However I still think, this game has the most frustrating deaths ever. Getting sniped by these small helicopters (especially when they´re not aiming at you, but accidentally in the direction you´re heading) or not getting the right feel for the 3D bullets... oh well. But nonetheless, this game becomes more and more fun.

I got 100% on all stages in the first loop except for that cryptic 3rd stage. I still can't find what I sometimes leave behind...
Died once on the last boss and still managed to get past the mid-boss in 2-3.

I'll be playing the game again when the 360 version comes out. It's definitely great fun, but it sure gave me a hell of a beating. :?

Congrats! Finally, and with an impressive score.

Sorry I decided on other highscore challenges for now, so I basically didn't compete at all... but sooner or later, I'll take down this first loop.

Any chance of getting a topic/table going for the arcade 360/PS3 port of this and new order?

I'll handle the New Order table (unless Kiken wants to do it) and I'll separate DC/ARC and 360/PS3 scores if you guys really want a separate table. There have to be nearly the same amount of points between naomi/360/ps3. On the whole, port differences don't matter for a forum like this. No one really plays competitively, lol. That said, I'll make a new table as soon as someone posts a 360/PS3 score.

Quick reminder, though: scores not posted in THIS format for DC/ARC

--------------------------------------------------------
# PLAYER --- SCORE -- STAGE -- ROTATION
--------------------------------------------------------

and THIS format for PS360

--------------------------------------------------------
# PLAYER - SCORE - STAGE - ROTATION - CONSOLE - DID YOU RAGE?
--------------------------------------------------------
will be ignored. Same goes for lone pics. Actually, maybe I'll just embed the pics in the first post so everyone can see who doesn't post their scores properly.

Any questions, comments, requests, complaints, etc. are welcome.

No, TLB, that's quite alright. You can handle New Order Mode. ;) Seriously though, just include it in this thread (just expand the title to: Under Defeat: Arcade Mode & New Order). As for separating DC/NAOMI scores from 360/PS3 scores... I think they're fairly close in terms of score potential, but I'll leave that decision to you. But I do think that all listings from now on should include console (NAOMI - DC - 360 - PS3).

NICE JOB! CONGRATULATION! YOU ARE PLAYER!

Firstly, I'd like to thank you for following the proper format. This is clearly the #1 most important thing of all time (ever). Secondly, great job!

I've decided to let the list of achievements die with the port (until a certain, particular event or two happen that I am patiently waiting for to prompt me to open a new table), and the new format is now the sole format listed at the top of the board. I'll let the table slide to 50, just so people have time to realize that they're about to die before being sucked into oblivion.

How hard did you rage, out of curiosity? Are you willing to share?

Heh, most of my rage (ie. swearing loudly) comes from getting killed by enemies that never appear in training mode. I guess setting the rank to +10 doesn't actually do anything, I dunno. I don't mind though; if a game isn't making me rage on occasion, it probably isn't a very good game. :)
