Granada

Post by Enhasa »

THIS GAME IS PROFOUND AND WILL ALWAYS BE NEW.

Image

Developed by Wolf Team for the X68000 and Mega Drive / Genesis in 1990, Granada is so awesome and ahead of its time it will make your face melt. Featuring ridiculously amazing music by Motoi Sakuraba, a strategic and satisfying scoring system, and the most awesome and fun method of fast movement ever invented -- all this over two years before Recca! -- Granada remains the king of the multidirectional top-down shooter genre.

One credit only and the default three tanks please! Different difficulties and platforms will be tracked separately. Custom controls are allowed and recommended. At least the MD version has a bug, just like Thunder Dragon 2, where the final stage's score tally isn't added to your score. So if you complete the game, screenshot or remember your finishing time bonus for the last stage, then manually add that to your final score. Submit your scores in the format:

This should be fun.
Gonna try it again for the 1CC later this week. :)

I'm done with MD normal. (For posterity since I just put it in the original post, my previous score was 1,813,537.)

2,011,932 - Enhasa - ALL

Just a reminder, roughly three more days if you want to submit a score this week.

I'm afraid I won't be able to participate (no shmupping time this weekend :().

When I played it 2 days ago I reached that green stage with the blue icy areas, but I got stuck there.
I imagine I missed that passage that shuts off when you get close to it. :?

Yeah, the path to the boss in stage 5 is beyond the last four targets in the water.

I uploaded some maps I found. Check the first post.

If you have your score, you can still submit what you have. What difficulty did you play on?

Ok, I updated tourney scores here.

Now, time for people to fill out some of the other categories. :P

dannnnn - 1,034,233 - Stage 6

Since this is purely a high score thread, it doesn't make any difference which stage you reached, right?

That's right, but people always track that anyway because why not.

Edit: WeaponXMetsu contacted me for this update. For the tourney guys, note how the score is the first thing on the left in this thread. ;)

Mega Drive (Mania)
1,313,326 - dannnnn - Stage 7

Wish I could have got this a week ago :(

I'm gonna keep pushing for the 1CC. The first 6 stages are going much smoother for me now, I could have possibly gone farther in this run but I whored for score as I've hardly practiced stage 7, so didn't fancy my chances atm.

Btw, there's no pic with this score simply because it was done on console.

Got a few attempts on this game today, in between pop'n pop and working on my improved Nox run. I'll definately have to play this some more later.

What difficulty did you play it on? Let me know if it wasn't Mania.

Thanks for posting a score in one of the categories with lesser attention currently. More people should play this great game.

Cool!

Mega Drive (Normal)

Image

1,195,226 – Perikles – ALL

This should be correct. The second multiplicand on Normal is 1, right? It doesn't especially matter since my score is pretty bad anyway. I'm just glad I was able to clear this game, I find it to be really difficult, one of the hardest MD clears for sure.
