Guess this game

It has the dumbest looking characters EVER (cut scenes).
it has the most euroshmuppy, dumb looking ships.
It borrows 99% of it's backgrounds and 60% of it's ship sprites from its much superior prequel.
And it is totally addicting and it rules, while keeping you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next "ready" while you sweat over a parking lot full of shooting tanks. Plus, exciting sheets of gold medals falling at random.
And I got to the real last boss for the first time last night (credit feed) and let of a satisfying super laser about every 10 seconds of the battle.
...plus the music is fantastic, with hip hop violins and everything!
It seems clunky, but it might be my favorite implementation of the "scrape" thing ever.

It is, of course, the much underrated but very amazing dodonpachi 2. Sorry about the riddle, it's just that this game is a riddle-- so shitty from some angles (ONLY when played after dodonpachi) and so amazing from others (it's like no other shmup I've ever played, with it's constant helicopter spam and tank parking lots).

Sounds like that South Korean made PCB of Wyvern Wings: Space Opera. It does have that Psiko-type of bullets and similiar Strikers 1945-ish gameplay. It did get a limited USA distribution, arcade-wise (complete with full-sized U.S. arcade marquee included in the full PCB kit).

The game origins from the 1992-95 period. It has at least 16 stages and the blade is a helicopter. Sometimes the boss consists of twins.

Heh, the year actually is 1990 and the title - "Ashura Blaster". I was maybe nine years old when I have watched 1cc in the local arcade.
