Good! This game does not get the attention that it deserves.

I decided to do away with the overall board since it's basically just a copy of the top of the X-36 score board. If that changes at some point, I will consider bringing it back in.

It's running terribly in MAME at the moment; I think I might just buy the board. Maybe. We'll see. Maybe I'll just go upstairs and play some more DOJ. Who knows ^_~

Just posting this so you can see how disappointed I am that I couldn't kill that big blackbird thing.

TOM - 595,300 - X-36 - 1-5

Also, 1-5 is seriously a fricking jump from 1-4. Not really, but I like to say it is. Even though I know it really isn't. It's just that I don't know this stage like the back of my hand the way I would 1-4, and I'm not as prepared with charge shots.

You're right, all these Psikyo games take is practice.

The difficulty definitely ramps up starting in stage 5 if you're going for the tech bonuses, because after the first four stages you must delay through every pattern each boss has before they will reveal their orb. These patterns are also typically faster and more dense than anything you've seen to that point. For these sections, it's all about positioning. If you are consistently having trouble figuring out a certain part, check out some videos on SuperPlay!. Some patterns are extremely tough to dodge, though, even if you know exactly what to do.

Yeah, I always go for the tech bonuses in 1-1 through 1-4. If it's the mantis bastard for 1-3 or 1-4, sometimes I bomb him because I suck :P Mostly it's just because his pattern is so fast that I suck at getting a good grip on where it gaps. If I sit down the screen directly under him, it's easy, but stupid. I've gotta figure out the gap just to the right so I can get it quickly and relatively safely.

Getting the 2-ALL for the fun of it; probably going to play again tomorrow :)

Man, I played this fourteen times in a hotel this past weekend and reached 1-4 with the Harrier. Many of my deaths were very frustrating with me holding 3 bombs. Unfortunately, I was so surprised to see a decent game at a hotel in the middle of nowhere that I didn't think to write down my score.

Is the secret plane supposed to be the best?

Yeah, the X-36 is supposed to be the best, but I like the F-4 and the Harrier better (X-36's shot is so weak D:). I can't no-miss 1-5, and depending on the 1-4, that either =/. It's definitely a hard game; the Harrier makes it especially difficult to panic-bomb because of the delay it has. It's more of an offensive move.

You should get a board; I'm thinking about it :) If not this, then probably Dragon Blaze.

When you become better you will reach a point where you realise that the X-36 is clearly the best. At first I also liked a few other ships more, especially the Harrier. It´s true that the main shot of the X is a bit weak, but the X has two BIG benefits: the very fast homing laser and the surprisingly strong and also very fast super shot. With it you can take down many bigger enemies immediately, often even before they can shoot. Furthermore, the homing lasers also fill the super bar, and since they take down popcorn all the time you will have a super shot ready much faster than you think, often nearly the whole time!

So a good strategy to improve would be a few plays with an extensive use of the super shot.

Oh and the bomb might not be strong, but in the time you remain invincible afterwards you can also cause a lot of damage if you use the super shot.

I wish I could play this game again, but I sold it. Always thought it was pretty cool, although it is a bit unbalanced.

I was actually looking up prices yesterday. It's not unreasonable to find one for under $125. Unfortunately, I have nothing to use a board with yet, but I'd like to buy an Egret 2 cabinet after I have a house.

I tried out the X-36 a couple times. It seemed to have the "gradius drawback" where the game got really hard if I died because my weapon was too weak. However, after you snag a couple power ups and get homing, it seemed pretty good. If I played enough to grow accustomed to it's movement speed, I'd probably like it a lot.

Hi everyone. Im a bit of a knock-about sorta player. Just wondering if you guys know how to get the secret plane in the arcade version of Strikers 1945 III. I read it was achieved by holding up while choosing random with the cheats turned on. I use mame so i turned the cheats on. But alas.... no good.

Help anyone?

My best today was:
Av-8 Harrier 1-5 448300

Although ive done better.

in mame press f2 when the game loads to get the service screen then go to the option called maintenance code or something and change the number in it to 01999 press start then go back to game via the menu or f3 and press up on the random char select .

Wow thanks clp. I just imput that just now and its all good! Had my first run ... that charge up laser blasted everything eh... But its a bit weak other than that.

Its a bit like that little beetle plane in strikers 2.

How did anyone find that code out anyways?

Hey sageross, welcome to the board. It's always nice to see a new face.

It's not always so obvious that the X-36 is the best ship, and can seem very weak if you're used to the unrelenting power of the AV-8. Its dominance will become increasingly apparent to you with successive play, though--especially now that you are getting to the latter half of the stages. The key to using the X-36 effectively is learning where high power is actually necessary, and applying it quickly and accurately with the charged shot. You will find that there are few enough of these spots that you will always have the necessary charge available when they come up. I recommend watching a good no-miss/no-bomb replay to assist in the identification of them.

I hope to see many more scores from you. :D

Don't neglect the other ships though. Each of those ships is fun to play with because you have to play slightly different to effectively clear the screen later in the game and not get overwhelmed - especially with the F-117, you have to be ready to point blank everything.
