Oh, in cynicism, you seem to be at least 50, mate.m3tall1ca wrote:I'm getting to the party pretty damn late, but, luckily for me, I'm probably one of the youngest users on this forum, so I guess I have a few more years to get good at this stuff before I die than most of you guys =)
Have fun playing the fuck out of these games - and when they kick your ass so hard you get the urge to auto-corpse, don't forget that they're only games.

tough choice.m3tall1ca wrote: so I'm curious to hear some opinions on whether DFK or DOJ has the better soundtrack
DOJ has this kinda dark industrial mechanical like atmosphere, while DFK has this fantasy yet melancholic sounds.
both have their good point. i get both if i can. or google it in mp3 form.
anyway, stage 5 and mecha hibachi of DFK are made out of pure awesomeness.
It is to us a sufficient body in which, fairies and it is packed and can group of play.
Hahaha autocorpse =D
Henry Dark, did DOJ touch you when you were a child
And thanks, joeboto, I like both industrial and melancholic, and dark is always a plus =) So I think I'm going to have to empty my phone a bit so I can RIP THE MP3s FROM THE AUDIO CDs I'M GOING TO BUY *coughwheezehack*. But seriously, I might buy them. Are they on the expensive side?

Sometimes on a whim, I'll fire up my supergun with DDP-DOJ PCB just to listen to the cool BGM tunes in the Operator's Menu selection. It really is awesome to chill back with DOJ's BGM tunes playing in the background. ^_~
What's really odd is that some of the digitized speech clips featured in the Sound Mode of DDP-DOJ PCB are never played during a normal gaming session. Why go through all that trouble to record such sampled speech bites and never use them in-game? At the very least, they are included for completeness. ^_~

There are plenty of games with sound effects and music that appear in test menus but don't end up in the actual game. Sometimes it's due to memory issues, or just because the developers decided it wasn't going to work at the last minute. Some even have these resources hidden in the game, unaccessable until someone digs them out by looking through data files. Here's an example of a famous game that has unfinished levels hidden in it .. http://themushroomkingdom.net/smb3_lost.shtmlPC Engine Fan X! wrote:Sometimes on a whim, I'll fire up my supergun with DDP-DOJ PCB just to listen to the cool BGM tunes in the Operator's Menu selection. Mine is up and running now and it seems that, while Power mode definitely requires you to collect everything, Strong doesn’t care – as long as you unlock the first and don’t die to a mid-boss (auto-bombing is fine) you will see all the others. Chalk up another one for noob mode, I guess.Taylor wrote:Hm, I definitely saw all the bosses each time. When I get my one up and running I’ll experiment and no doubt find you’re correct
Though, again, can someone say the criteria for the DDP bosses? I collect all 3 bees, chain everything, and kill the containers before the big tanks that are apparently relevant but I always get the normal boss. Then I just play through without caring and, boom, DDP boss out of nowhere. It seems it's possible to enter the easy loop without fighting these, as there's only 10 bee's hidden in their parts of the stage by my count, but that's kind of lame and I'd prefer a margin for error.
Replying to myself 3 times makes me feel lonely.
Anyway, I see how it works now and I probably wasn't doing it right before. The big tanks roll over the containers and destroy them because evil tanks love crushing containers (and houses). So, you need to mercy kill the containers before the tanks roll over them. Nothing else appears to matter, even bees and your combo, and this applies to all modes so itsn't just Strong's continued bee apathy.
Previously I thought order mattered, and the tank was probably killing one for me.

I'm listening to the soundtrack of DFK for the first time. So far it's absolutely amazing! I can't wait for a chance to play this game.

anyone know who this is at Cave?
just curious

Re: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu [Cave 2008]
why so sure its a staff signature?
i have one of the "collectors boxes" and they look nothing like that, they also come with a sticker of authenticity.
tbh i would be pretty pissed if the staff just went down and doodled signatures like this on brand-new products..

Re:
I know the feeling, having listened to such sheer awesomeness for months beforehand, and then finally getting a chance to play it is beyond epic. I was worried getting to the 5th stage (my favorite track) would be too hard for the short time I was in Japan, but thanks to ez-strong mode I even 1cc'd the game within a couple of credits. It's a pity the arcades there are so damn noisy its hard to hear what is coming from your cab sometimes (some have headphone jacks to plug into, at least in HEY, but eh, just not the samebucklemyshoe wrote:I'm listening to the soundtrack of DFK for the first time. You'd be pissed if the value of your item can potentially jump way up because a signiture (all signitures are doodles btwsven666 wrote:why so sure its a staff signature?

I can understand if its all over some artwork almost akin to graffiti, but this is just a plain ol' cardboard box.
Re: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu [Cave 2008]
yah i am not sure who's signature or what it is ,
I really love the game and either way i will keep it , I didnt understand what it said and
was curious that's why I have been asking around.
if its some randomness from cave then it is what it is .
I guess I was posting to see if anyone els got this or if anyone could read it.

Re: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu [Cave 2008]
I said it was Niwa since the name characters are 二羽, and this looks like a stylized rendering of that name, but I can't be sure. Plus the fact that he's not in the credits means it's pretty unlikely.

We are holding the secret power of shmups.

akraten> not trying dismiss your find in any way mate, just saying, i have tons of boxes where random people have doodled unrelated stuff on them, these things go thru alot of middlemen depending on whom you buy it from, its equally possible its someone at CAVEs signature.
