Well, it's a good thing to have a discussion about attitudes towards race and marriage, but as a government official it's not really your place to use the machinery of government like that. I could see why he'd think "welp, somebody gotta do it" but all he's doing is fucking with peoples' lives really.

Being german and reading this words came to my mind :

But thinking of marriages between brother and sister, father and daughter,
Mom and son, forced marriages and marriages with children - in this cases
governments should do something. I have no problem with marriages of
people with the same sex - in short words .... it doesn´t hurt anyone.

Furthermore: surely "interracial problems" won´t be solved by not allowing
people to marry someone with another colour. Surely the couple might face
problems ... but that´s life and time might change the opinions of a society.
