Hokuto no Ken + Dynasty Warriors! And it's coming out here!

Post by szycag »

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/koei- ... tar-musou/

I thought the Gundam one was a nice touch even if it disappointed a lot of people but I don't see how this could, if it gets everything from the series right. Best anime hero ever plus countless bad guys to plow through, and I think the game's action will make that much more sense as a "superhero" game.

The question now is if it will be considered for release in the west? We did get Dynasty Warriors Gundam and it's sequel...

EDIT: Question apparently answered? It's being planned for the west as well. Thanks moonblood

That could be so good. Here's hoping they don't fuck it up.

I never liked Dynasty Warriors kind of games. They should do it kinda like God Hand, minus the humor and with better graphics.

Can't argue with the concept... that sort of game was made for Kenshiro and company. I hope they don't skimp on the trademark ridiculous gore too much.

I hope it will have some Fist 2 guys like "Hulk Hogan" (Bask) in it. I liked seeing Kenshiro cut him in half.

the gore is really exclusive to the OG film. All the new stuff coming out over the last few years, the movies and OVAs...all mega-tame in comparison. I wouldn't hold my breath for any gore.

awesome! I stand corrected, it actually is pretty gory. Although i think the fact that my attention span felt the need to fast forward the video tells me I would get bored with this one.

It's the medical textbook-esque manga I measure FOTNS gore by. ;) The first movie is indeed hardcore, though. I doubt this game would get quite as blood n' guts as either.

Still, at least one dude exploded in a bloody red cloud after Ken's fists met face, so it's already better than the whitewashed TV anime.

edit1: grammar
edit 2: make that a lot of dudes! Love the staggering "You're already dead." "What?! AIEEE!" animations.

お前はも死んでいる!!!

Fucking great news, HnK is an awesome franchise and there aren't nearly enough games for it. The graphics and violence are looking nice so far, I'll wait to see more before I bitch about the extreme repetitiveness of Dynasty Warriors games. I doubt it will reach the awesomeness of the Arc Sys fighting game (I can watch videos of that game for hours) but I'm probably going to pick this up as soon as it is released.

Despite the fact that I've sworn I'd never play another Musou game, it's ... it's ... Fist of the North Star! I can't say no!

Okay, there's a lot of things working against this game, but I'm still going to get it.

Did anyone ever play the Fist of the North Star GB game? I haven't played it since I was in grade school, but my memories of it are it being horrible!

I hope some better footage without the 2ch annotations will show up.

The explosion animations really remind me of the HnK games on Famicom...the first one anyway. Looks pretty interesting, anyhow, the hero looks like the biggest badass on the 360 yet, and he can actually run (RE5's Chris, cough).

I have played a bit of it and your memories of it are correct. Terrible game.

SMS got a pretty good Fist of the North Star game, but it was altered for the western market and it has no gore (in any incarnation). Bodies do break apart, though. The funny thing about the Black Belt version is that the violence and breaking apart bodies are intact, despite the changes due to the lack of Fist of the North Star license.

I am so getting this, unless someone points out it will be useless playing without Japanese knowledge.
I do not like this genre, but the Hokuto world is too awesome to pass up on.

Overseas players can rest assured that the game is planned for release outside of Japan, the paper also reports. :)
