Reccomend me a good movie

Post by popawell »

A friend recommended GI Joe and 9, are either any good?
If not, recommend me something else.

Hard to recommend to you if we don't know what you like and what you don't.

If by '9' you mean 'District 9', then go see it now. Don't even think about it. The same goes for everyone else on the forum :D

Anything that has action in it, without the long boring bits that transformers 2 had. Some friends said GI Joe was crap, so I'm avoiding that one.

The "9" I was referring to was Tim Burton's latest film, but the one MX7 recommended looks way more interesting.

screw tim burton's endless gothic fairy tale crap......
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I really like G.I. Joe. The action was superb and had a really nice Star Wars vibe to it. The ending did go a bit too far with the bad guys though, the plot is clearly not aimed at an adult audience, but hey, if you want to have lots of fun at the cinema, don't hesitate to see this fun ride. Also has babes.

Smokin' hot babes in this live-action G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra film...I went and saw it on day one of release. I definitely got my moneys worth. ^_~

As for District 9, if you go see it without reading the film critic reviews...it really is an awesome sci-fi film. With the way how it ends...there is more to the story than meets the eye. ^_~

Should be pointed out that 9 is not a Tim Burton film. Of course, everyone thinks District 9 is a Peter Jackson film too. That whole executive producer thing messing with people's minds.

Went to see District 9 last night, truly an awesome movie. I wasn't really sure what to expect since I didn't see any previews, but the action, story, and humor are all excellent.

I wouldn't be surprised if two to three years down the road, another sequel to District 9 appears to further continue the story along. The alien powered armored mecha suit was badass. ^_~

I watched Surrogates with Bruce Willis recently and thought the movie had a very good sci fi vibe to it. Sorta like I-Robot crossed with the Matrix. I would recommend that.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

good story and ideas....poorly executed imo tho....

it kinda reminded me of babylon AD, in so much that it was attempting to be some epic story that kinda fell flat....

didnt care for district 9 at all, felt like a disney movie with a bunch of unneccesary gore thrown in, didnt find the storyline peticularly clever either, quite the opposite actually, very predictable aswell :?

did like inglorious basterds tho, opening scene and bar scene were immensly enjoyable and atmospheric :)

Yeah, first scene was like sitting on nails to me. I really like how the movie goes wherever it wants historically as well. :D

the guy who plays landa should get an academy award, best acting ive seen for ages.

did not care for brad pits acting nor character tho, pretty funny actually, that everything in the movie is great except the scenes with the basterds themselves (which are quite few aswell).

Yeah, I saw "The Hidden 2" when it was first released on VHS tape format at my local The Video Park rental store. It does have the cop guy who plays the partner of the alien cop character from the first one -- he reprises his role in the second film. The pacing and script really isn't all that great in this Hidden 2 sequel though compared to the stellar acting, gun battles, and high speed chases of the first film. I liked the sexy 'n' busty Claudia Christensen when she was having fun with herself -- boobs and all. ^_~

I watched this sleazy movie from 1988 called "Deadbeat at Dawn". Jim Van Bebber essentially single handedly made the film.

I figured the movie was going to suck because of its homemade look, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has lots of action and a really great 80s synth soundtrack. This movie has great atmosphere, which is prob why i enjoyed it so much.
