GD?: Change Air Blade (single and multiplayer)

Post by shoe-sama »

VS SHMUP
single player throws you through 8 stages with enemy ship at top position

Button1
Top position ships have neglible blaster damage and shoot bullets.
Bottom position ships have high blaster damage.
Blaster does damage. Bullets take out a lifebar immediately. So basically bottom ship acts like a regular shmup ship and top ship acts like a large shmup enemy.

Button2
Bombs are like, bombs. Bottom ship can use bombs, or partial bombs for a quick shield aura.
Top ship uses attack patterns with bombs. Vertical screen position and level charged determine what attack is used.
Max charge = boss summon. Boss can use all 3 buttons, pattern determined by button used and vertical screen position.

Button 3
Items
Sword Item summons popcorn enemies for top and use special attack for bottom.
Lock on item locks on if the enemy is in sight range, then shoots bullets/pattern.

You can change ship type during countdown
type 1 balanced
type 2 +spd -power -health
type 3 +1 power level +health -spd
type 123 handicapped

Single Player
extends 2M 6M
max 3 lifebars

Single player scoring revolves around 100k medals. They're hidden in the background.
100k medals only pop out when medals are maxed. Dying resets medal value. Don't die.
They appear frequently when tapping button 1 as opposed to holding it down.
So max out medals by getting enemy down to red in stage 1 for boss spawnage.
For stage 2 onwards, button tap only. You should be able to complete stage 2 with well over 3M, to get an idea of how many points you should have.
A good ship type to use is one of the column 3 ships. They're the ones with weird japanese names. They have a wide shot that can reveal 100k medals more easily. The bottom one sucks for killing bosses though, which is bad since boss killing = points. So use 3rd top ship.

Blaster is also a good scorer if you don't mind moving all over the screen. It does the best damage (2nd best shot damage 2nd best bomb damage, best bomb range). It can item stream too. Sucks for 100king in later stages though, since you can't move around to reveal 100k medals when the stage 5-8 enemies use their ultratapdodgepatternsofdoom.

Item streaming takes advantage of the fact that the enemy will drop items at a higher rate when flinched. The only ships that can take advantage of this are blaster and sylph. With bombs and the sword item, they can reach the threshold damage for flinch quite quickly, and will multihit, causing lots of items to drop. You can even recharge the bomb you just used.

When you're milking, the more troublesome boss patterns (stage 1 trap vulcan, stage 2 spin vulcan) can be beaten using partial bombs or bullet cancelling items.

Obviously this game has rank, but who cares.

just a quick question: can anyone confirm that [type 123] really exists/works?

pressing 1, 2 or 3 all give you different colored ships - but pressing 1,2 & 3 simultaniously doesn't...

It definitely works, and you get a different-colored ship. Are you using keyboard? It's notoriously hard to hit ABC simultaneously, unless you turn on that steady key or whatever that gives you terrible input lag (in fact that's how it works). This is why people wait for timeout in Garegga. Anyway, either use a stick/pad or if you're really desperate, just set all 3 buttons to the same key on the keyboard temporarily.

I always assumed it was -speed, -power, -health, but who knows with this game? I'd rather be handicapped on the top than non-handicapped on the bottom anyway.
