I'm half-tempted to inquire further regarding the difference between a "remix" and an "evolution", but methinks it'd be opening up too big a can of worms to make it worth my while. :P

It's been some time since I got the opportunity to try this, but going off what I remember, obviously it's very much "a Cave game", but it does play differently from the first Mushi (no chaining, if nothing else).

BTW, I believe NCS doesn't charge you ahead of time for pre-orders if you use a credit card for payment. (I just...wish I didn't live in NYS.)
Just to confirm for those still wondering, I sent an email to them and asked, they won't charge till its in stock and ships.
For those that ordered, did you actually get charged?

I preordered with a credit card and didn't get charged. I think it's just the PayPal method that charges as soon as you place the order.

Death Smiles does not suck at all(the MBL and 1.1 are way better though). But the hardware failure is a valid point.

I have a zephyr 360 >_> It sounds like a chainsaw on its last legs, but it's still ticking after constant use since the elite came out.

Death Smiles is decent, but not worth a full console setup by itself, IMO. That's one of the reasons why I'm conflicted; I bought the J360 primarily for the Cave (save DOJ) material since everything else besides Mamoru-kun is available elseware. If the rest of the shmups on the console start getting localized or being released as region free, I'll probably end up selling it.

Well, preorders for the Cave LE have started. Heh, they really want to discourage the same person making multiple orders, the only payment option they're accepting is bank transfer for this! How annoying...

Anyway, they seem to have sold out already, that was fast!

This is absolutely stunning news.

Cave you have my money for this pre-order, 100% - thanks for making Mushihimesama Futari region-free! The original is among my favorite shmups, and now I have a straightforward way to pick up the sequel, without the unnecessary ongoing headache of replacing an import 360 if/when it turns into a red-ring paperweight. Now I seriously need to start thinking of an arcade stick or joypad replacement for the 360 so I can actually attempt to play this future masterpiece with any degree of precision.

Well, I've always found daibiki to be a massive pain in the balls...especially for the online festivals since my total is always well over a grand.

The region-free news for Mushihime Futari begs the question: if it was possible in the first place, why did they decide to do it now, and why does it take so long to decide?

There's a lot of region-locked games that will never see the light outside of Japan, and flipping that switch to make it region free and selling a few more copies can't be a bad thing.

This is Cave's little test to see if making a game region free is worth it if the overseas market is large enough. I don't think the licencing and legal stuff involved is as simple as "flipping a switch." And if the sales prove successful enough for them, galuda2 and possibly all future cave releases will be region free. So for those who can, please purchase this game by the dozens

Just buy the PS2-Adapter mentioned in the hardware subforum and use your HRAP (that is, if you own one)

Thanks for the heads-up about that, it seems like a really good option since I already have a wired 360 pad and have a couple of PS2 arcade sticks I can then use.

btw - does someone want to edit the thread title to "[X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 Region-free" or similar... so this unprecedented news is not missed by anyone casually browsing the forum (the more folks order this, the higher chances of future region-free Cave releases)

Does anyone know of a similar adaptor for PS3 USB sticks? I've got a Virtua Stick HG & SF4 Tourney Edition Stick for the PS3 and i'd like to use them on 360 if at all possible.

Now... Will the Black Label DLC be region free as well? Or will CAVE make it available globally (on every marketplace)?

Download content is typically region free but they will have to make it available to all the marketplace regions now.

ditto. Have used both yesasia and playasia and can't complain about any of them. I also like the free candies/stickers of playasia :P but yesasia's free shipping (although things are not cheap at all) really does it.

That's because in the event NCSX can't fulfil all the pre-orders they take, or some people are made to wait while they get more stock, they won't be holding on to your money.

I'm going with a much more reliable source, especially as all these online stores tend to land me with customs charges.

This is the best news ever though.

Try reading EOJ's ST. I'm sure that will give you a better idea of how it plays and what the score system is like.

So can you use any PS2 controller on a 360 w/ a PS2-adaptor? No laggy lag?

It has many elements of their others. Knowing that you like Progear the best, this will probably leave you a little empty. Actually 1.01 Original Mode might be up your alley. It's hard as fuck and doesn't have a ton of bullets. Black Label original is fun as well if you want to get crazy with the rank. I don't see you getting all hot & horny for Maniac, God, or Ultra.

About 1.2 Frames, which means almost no lag at all
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.ph ... tcount=553
But i gotta say i just tested it with a HRAP.
On the other Hand if the arcade stick works, most of the other stuff will, too.
Wouldn't be suprised if it even worked with Guitar Hero guitars or Pop n Music / Beatmania stuff.

I think Jockley is forgetting to post this.

It works with pretty much anything that was made for a PS2, but since there's no Pop'n Music games for 360, it's pretty pointless for some. It's a really good adapter, I've been using it with my PS2 Saturn pad for awhile now.

That news about the online edition being 1 per customer is fairly disappointing. I can't imagine how much they're going to be asking on Yahoo Japan now.

It's DLC? I thought it was all included on the disc. :?

I wonder how much extra the Black Label DLC will cost, then.

Fantastic news about Futari being region free

But (and apologies for interrupting the wankfest) from what I've read (and re-read) there seems to be no mention of subsequent releases being region free.

To quote Asada (via kotaku) "By making Mushihime-sama Futari region-free, what we're doing is measuring the amount of overseas users,".

...and: "This will have a direct impact on whether Espgaluda II and other titles will be localized for America".

Ok, something may have been lost in translation, but as I read it subsequent release may be localised (for North America) and I strongly suspect the japanese releases will be region locked in that case.

So those of use in Europe should probably leave the next packet of tissues on ice...
