You think it's good game design that when someone uses skill or knowledge that not everyone has, they are rewarded with a powerup or extend that furthers their advantage and makes it even easier? And someone who is already worse at a game because they are new has the additional challenge of having to go through the game without any of these powerups?

I've never been a fan of rank-based difficulty (punishing a player for scoring well is poor game design, duh)

I'm trying to harvest Sim. 50 (the ice stage) to get a new high score, but as I stand, I'm running into my inadequecies when I finish Sim. 30 (sky assault) with no bombs. If I get there with no bombs, I have to suicide to get more so I can succesfully get the micluses in the stage, and the fairy bombs. I chose not to do that this run, and it got me a broken chain and a crappy run of Sim. 50 overall. I need to get to Sim. 50 with at least one bomb in order for my run to be better and so I don't waste a life.

Hell yes, triggered medal mode at the end of the first stage. Would have had a much higher-scoring run if I hadn't bungled things up and lost a life on the first stage.

Man, whoever mentioned it's sometimes easy to confuse your ship with the other slaves: I accidentally picked up a S powerup on stage 20 and kinda freaked out when the slaves went into homing mode. "WHERE THE HELL AM I? CANNOT MISS MEDAL!"
