100k bonus is in stage 9 only. Radar bonus are limitate (less 115 if I remember well = 230.000pts). The real key in this game is bomb max capacity for all game (5 bombs = 30.000) and reamining 0 lives (you must crush all lives in some stage because you obtain more of 100k for each). 1up item is important. 16m is possibleRuldra wrote:Really? I didn't know about this bonus. I know you get a 100k bonus if you kill all the missile-shooting enemies at the end of stage 9, but I never got it anywhere else.
That would explain how scoring over 10 millions is possible.
Re: Varth
I think getting near the varthjp arcadia record has something to do with repeatedly getting the 1m bonus at the end of the game (possibly letting one of the walls or pod helicopters live and then letting them hit you at the end?). There just aren't enough points in any other stage.
Guess I'll put my score here too.

old Gamest score was: 10.754.400...
theoretical:
8.500.000 sik score
+ 500.000 because better play (more radar bonus, more 10.000 bonus, more other...)
+ 1.000.000 (about) for no bombs use (5 bomb in stock always)
and 1m / 1.5m pts in place of 500.000 bonus for 5 lives remaining (crush lives in some stage to obtain more of 100k for each)
all this in 1999.
but in 2007 new player perform 15.7m
maybe 1m for each life at the end is possible?

Re: Varth
This doesn't sound plausible. Even if he has 5 bombs in stock for every stage, that's less than 600k, and (I can't tell for sure because I haven't watched his replay yet), since sik finished all stages with at least some bombs, it should be even less than that.Gemant wrote:+ 1.000.000 (about) for no bombs use (5 bomb in stock always)
I don't think there is a stage in the game that would alone give more than 400-450k for checkpoint milking. That 15 million figure sure looks odd, especially if it's played on the same settings. Some other glitch we don't know of, perhaps?

1 stock = 1.000 pts
2 stock = 3.000 pts
3 stock = 10.000 pts
4 stock = 20.000 pts
5 stock = 30.000 pts
30.000 x 30 stages = 900.000 (well, I know that for some stages is possible 10.000 and 20.000 only... real total not are 900k but 850? 860?).
for leeching... in some stages (after 20th) when you lost, you play again stage bonus (20), all stage where you lost, and leeching during some boss. But this is ok for old pattern. I don't know any strategies for 16m pts.

Let's see -
I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anywhere near 500k worth of points outside of bomb bonuses.
I could have gotten more points from bosses probably. Stage 29 boss has enemies that come out of it as well as the walls that come up from the ground that are worth 1k each. I'm not sure how long it takes for that boss to time out. I'm not sure how many 2k ground items I missed (it wasn't a goal of mine this week to find them all). I know I missed bonuses here and there, as well as a few enemies. If you are no bombing, you are going to miss out on quite a number of enemies. Also, no bombing the entire game is ridiculous.
820,000 points is the absolute maximum you could get from bombs. You get one on stage 3 and could potentially get one from Ryu on stage 4. You do not get any bonuses on stage 29. I missed 781,000 points from bombs in my 8.5M run.
I'd say 1.050M or so is possible to get if you were just checkpoint milking, and that would be on stage 5. Of course, you cannot do this on the World or US versions. You can do this assuming you have only five lives to kill off. A couple people said they got a random 1up from Ryu, so maybe another 210k or so is possible with this method. The one issue with this though is that I'm pretty sure you would lose your 5 bomb stock. We'll ignore this, however.
So, 8,510,200 + 781,000 + 1,260,000 = 10,551,200. The rest of the points come from whatever I missed in the stages.
The 15.7M arcadia record is most definitely from keeping either a wall or pod helicopter active until you get the 1M bonus and then die.
None of this accounts for differences between the World/US and JP versions besides that I'm assuming when you die, you just return to the beginning of the stage.

Re: Varth
If that is the case, then it's a pretty devious way of exploiting what I'd consider a glitch in the restart system, since a lot of games immediately make you invulnerable when it starts tallying up bonuses. In a similar vein, saucykobold found out that you can get 400k for each life in Parodius Da by suiciding as you kill the last boss.sikraiken wrote:The 15.7M arcadia record is most definitely from keeping either a wall or pod helicopter active until you get the 1M bonus and then die.
Have you tried it to see if it works in Varth yet?
Well done to you and Ruldra for breaking 8mil, by the way.
Re: Varth
1up appear random from Ryu. Because there are 3 Ryu, chance appearance are 3 in the game, but I think is possible a 1up only in all game.sikraiken wrote:

Re: Varth
from old mycom score: 10,511,400 Player Robocop. Comment: 1UPがほしい (if I interpret correctly, 1up = missed in this case)So, 8,510,200 + 781,000 + 1,260,000 = 10,551,200. The rest of the points come from whatever I missed in the stages.

Just tested it, it works. I ran into the helicopter right before the hit detection was turned off. It gave me the bonus and sent me back to the beginning of stage 29.
Also, If you die on stage 21-25 of the jp version, you go to an "EX" stage which is just the same thing as stage 20. There are two bombs in it so you can have full stock for the 30k bonus. All your bonuses ring up at the end of the EX stage, then you continue to whatever level you were on again. Seems like it's best to do this on stage 23 since you can get the most points from that level. The points you can get from stage 5 repeat and stage 23/EX repeat are about the same, but since you can keep your bomb bonus in 23, you won't lose out on 20k for how many levels it takes to get full bomb stock back. Obviously this doesn't even matter anymore since it's best to just suicide on the final boss.
I was just saying that no bombing is ridiculous, I don't know why anyone would do that to themselves for this game. :D It's very possible to do, obviously.
I'm not too familiar with the scoring per loop in Parodius Da. Do the arcadia records do this?Icarus wrote:In a similar vein, saucykobold found out that you can get 400k for each life in Parodius Da by suiciding as you kill the last boss.

Yes. I recently watched a run with Twinbee that came close to the record. The player sacrificed all of his spare lives at the end of loop 1.sikraiken wrote: I'm not too familiar with the scoring per loop in Parodius Da. Do the arcadia records do this?
Just to qualify things, you get 100k per life in the arcade version. In the 32 bit ports, you get a little over 400k per life.

well, this is the secret of this game, thereforesikraiken wrote: Just tested it, it works. I ran into the helicopter right before the hit detection was turned off. It gave me the bonus and sent me back to the beginning of stage 29.
8.510.200 - 500.000 (because in the Sik replay him obtain 100k for life at the end) + 781.000 = 8.791.200. Crush 5 lives + 1up and finish the game = + 6.000.000 (when you re-start from the beginning of stage 29 you obtain about 170k or more from the last boss in this stage. 170k x 5 = at least 850.000 ). There are other 150k pts about missing, but I think are better play in all game (collect all radar bonus, all car 10.000 pts, all Ryu + bonus from him (sometimes you can get car x 4 for Ryu)...
there are some comments in the arcadia score. Is necessary translate.
Probably this was a old pattern until 1999...sikraiken wrote: Seems like it's best to do this on stage 23 since you can get the most points from that level. Re: Varth
I can't believe I forgot to subtract the end of game life bonus. But yeah, there are definitely more points to get that I didn't necessarily get throughout all the levels of the game.
Ah, ok. I was just surprised at 400k since in comparison to the arcadia records that sounded pretty large.saucykobold wrote:Yes. I recently watched a run with Twinbee that came close to the record. Re: Varth
We are assuming that ryu only gives one 1up maximum, maybe you can get more than one. The part of the text that says the new record is the result of a new trick involving death at another location - maybe they mean dying with a different/better method (so maybe you can get the 10k bomb bonus and 50k no pod bonus in addition to the 1M bonus per life?).
~8,000,000 + 781,000 bomb bonus I missed + 850,000 from 29+30 repeat + 6,000,000 = 15,631,000. I definitely missed a decent amount of points from various bonus items (radar, 10k bonuses, some enemies). This right here can match/beat the current arcadia record, so I really think it's possibly an improvement on the stage 30 method (I didn't include a possible additional 60k per life in the math above) as well as possibly more than one 1up from ryu.
Do you know what stages all the ryus are in? When I have some time, I'll test the possibility of obtaining more than one 1up.

Re: Varth
The only other Ryu I've found is on stage 28 at the very end, before you enter the "final boss area". Just search in the small corridor on the left.
Re: Varth
in arcadia's score there are little informations. But 2 miss on stage 17 is the only important comment. 2 miss = 2.350.000 pts miss!! at the end of the game.sikraiken wrote:We are assuming that ryu only gives one 1up maximum, maybe you can get more than one. However.... 1up is extremely rare, and I think 1 item only is possible for each play. I doubt that Imasara have obtained it in 15.7m.
Ryu appea in these stages:
stage 4 (you know)
stage 11 on the left the Boss at the beginning
stage 28 on the left before the end of the stage
