its intended more as "mame-cab" gear.....gut a cab....insert PC...add in PC speakers.....never swap it out or play actual jamma PCB's.....

its not the best option for people who swap boards and dont want to completely hack there cabs speakers and stuff

I just read that the reason it doesn't have on board amplification is because a lack of 12v feed.

These cabs have enough sockets to melt a power station. Forward thinking is needed here.

Andy told me in an email when I asked, and then he said that it was because he was happy with the J-Pac's "as is", i.e. without the amp. I would get a JAMMA-ASD instead.

Robert Garcia just called me and suggested that i should get all ground wires on the jamma harness connected to one certain pin.
He said that he had the same problem that i had and this solved it.
Can somebody please explain to me in detail >why< that should fix anything?

ground loops?

A Star topology should be used for ground distribution, avoiding loops.

Where can I buy jamma ASD and can you point me to a review or someone that has one already?

Cheers,

Richie.

I know someone over at AO built a MAME PC and using one and posted a picture in the MAME PCB thread (news part of the forum). Track it down and ask him. AFAIK, the quality is basically the same as J-Pac, but cheaper and has audio capabilities. If I didn't own two J-Pac's already and put Subwoofer's in my cabs (this is IMHO the best way of hooking up line sound without a special amp) I would buy a JAMMA-ASD.

Edit: It was Yosai who built his MAME rig using a JAMMA-ASD.

I don't see how that device works with a console at all.

Well, J-Pac DOES NOT work with any consoles either. Not without the adapters, that I believe a JAMMA-ASD will work fine with as well. I'm confused, did you not read the whole thread?

it would work with ulitmarc's PS2 adapters, as well as they work with ultimarcs own keyboard encoder that is.

I think I need someone to illustrate it.

If I bought the bits could you put them together so that it all works?
