Very cool. It feels like that place it trapped in the 80's and 90's

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Re: The New Mikado Arcade (Shoot 'em-up Heaven) Video Tour:
Their new arcade is in Takadanobaba isn't it? If it is then it shouldn't be too hard to find as it sounds like it is right next to the train station. That is a must see when I visit next month

Yes. And if you never, ever go to the part of town, I imagine it might be a trick to find.Pointman wrote:Their new arcade is in Takadanobaba isn't it?
For the record, Shinjuku is still around, but it's a bit barren these days. Looks like they're
riding out the lease.

I liked this cool Mikado game center video, JAPJAC. ^_~
The digital pic shots of the Ketsui helicopters was cool as well. Were they just up for promotion or were they actually up for sale?
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~

Re: The New Mikado Arcade (Shoot 'em-up Heaven) Video Tour:
thanks for the tip.. actually should be easy to find, since according to the video, it's so near the station that the unique Takadanobaba subway station jingle can be heard when entering the arcade... the jingle is of course the theme of Astroboy =)
Cool.. they have Dragon Breed and a lot of 50 yen gaming. I'm going to Tokyo next month (TGS!), maybe I should stay at Tama Ryokan, it's a great place and happens to be located across the street from this new Mikado arcade

The Ketsui's ship models were available in stock at 15 grand.
It is a clean, modern, light and unsmokey arcade, the exact opposite to the Shinjuku branch. Even though it is located in a boring shit hole, it is well worth visiting. However, I noticed a HUB (English pub) near the station so one could pile into the 5-7 happy hour, go to this arcade, then go straight into town from that station. Could be a blinding start to the night for tourists.
I don't know the area at all really so I had to ask where it was at another arcade that I found.
That map is fantastic if arriving by parachute but here is how to find it on foot from TakaHanaDakanoBanana Station.
Waseda Exit.
Turn left upon exiting the ticket barriers.
Walk left along the road outside the station, under the train bridge keeping station side.
About 30 seconds up you will come to a narrow road inbetween a Pachinko Palour and a Game Centre on your left.
Turn left up this road and keep walking. This straight road is on a slight upward hill and runs parallel to a station platform and train tracks toward Shinjuku. It is on the right, just before a Lawson about a minute or two up.
Good luck.
