Might be of interest to some of you, same venue as Insert Coin so I'll be going for at least one of the days.

Wish I could've got to this
Just couldn't afford to stay in Northampton for another week...

Re: UK Pinball Show - 24th-26th July 2009
It was pretty good - my estimation would be 80-100 machines there all on freeplay.

I got the count wrong, it was actually 140 or so.

Do you have any idea if this is going to be at the same venue next year, bloodflowers? Would be tempted to try and do this and Insert Coin next time, if it's going to be the same arrangement

Did Stern show off their latest pinball offerings at this UK Pinball show?
I did see a Stern "The Sopranos" pinball machine set on Free Play at the 2009 California Extreme show. There was this dude who kept playing four player gaming sessions of it -- he did it twice in a row while I was waiting in line to try it out for the first time. Eventually he left and I was finally able to try it out. Punched in two credits to play by myself to get an idea and feel for it, gameplay-wise. Pretty cool pinball game, btw. ^_~
I did spy a rare Hyperball pinball machine up for sale for a mere $900.00 USD at the CAX-'09 show as well -- not sure if it sold or not, though. There was another Hyperball machine setup on Free Play but it wasn't working properly. Bummer, wanted to try it again for ol' time's sake. There's always next year's upcoming CAX event to look forward to try it again. ^_~

James your a bit off 92 was the total figure when i left sat evening unless a container arrived on sunday .bloodflowers wrote:I got the count wrong, it was actually 140 or so.
Plus there power situation could only handle 80 machines as place was tripping all day .They should have used more cables

Re: UK Pinball Show - 24th-26th July 2009
Just going by what was posted on the ukpinball group. The competitions were being held in a different area I think? At any rate, no power issues while I was there, but it wouldnt surprise me if there had been - that's a lot of juice.poolchamp wrote:James your a bit off 92 was the total figure when i left sat evening unless a container arrived on sunday .bloodflowers wrote:I got the count wrong, it was actually 140 or so.

Re: UK Pinball Show - 24th-26th July 2009
The show was a bit different this year as we also hosted the 2009 European Pinball Championship, with competitors from 14 countries (or was it 16?). There were just over 140 machines, like the last couple of years, but the EPC tournament took 18 out of freeplay use all weekend, the Country tournament took 14 out of use on Friday and Saturday morning and the Classics tournaments took 8 out of use for all of Sunday.
The tournaments went well, mostly ending on time unlike previous years and, as far as I could see, there were no power issues (with 2 servers, 3 PCs, 8 display screens and 8 PDAs to juice, I reckon I'd have seen any power problems. Yes, we were also using a UPS for the critical bits!)
There's a good chance of a show being there next year, Nick who organises it says he'll not be doing it next year, but he says that every year!
Now that the EPC is out of the way, we'll go back to a standard set of pinball tournaments, which means less work for me as I do most of the scoring system prep. for it. Maybe that means that I'll be able to do a video game tournament this time, which I've wanted to do at the past 2 or 3 shows, classics of course...watch this space!

At the show, there was a 24, which Stern released a few months ago, but not the latest Stern, NBA. We also had a Sopranos (I love that game, profanity mode is cracking, shame there's not many around) and a Hyperball, owned and kept running tirelessly throughout the event by Defender/Robotron specialist, Dave Langley.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Did Stern show off their latest pinball offerings at this UK Pinball show?

We also had Steve Richie over from the States at the Pinball Show, the guy who designed Hyperball, High Speed, HS2: The Getaway, Star Trek, Flash, Black Knight and many more...
