Mastodon - Crack the Skye -- Continuing to listen to and I can't really explain. It didn't seem special, but maybe it's all of the warner bros. production dollars. About tied with Leviathan.

Just sticking in my opinion again; but the two albums before Liege & Lief are much better (Unhalfbricking & What we did on our holidays). Also recently picked up the Fotheringay album (the band Sandy Denny joined after Leige & Lief) and I think it is pretty great. Plus, many people are not man enough to own an album called Fotheringay :D

Wouldn't mind seeing that bill MSD. Worth it just for the Wolves set I'm sure. Really like their latest on Southern Lord.

Currently it's Dragnet by The Fall.

posting again. just want to communicate a story.

i work at a convenience store, and the rep for one of our local distros in west michigan knew i was looking for a turntable. he came in one day to take our order and said, "oh, austin. i have something for you." he runs out to his car and returns holding a few records

among them : allman brothers - at the fillmore east
jimi hendrix - some pre-70 greatest hits, experience era songs

can't remember the rest. anyway, he says the others were mostly motown style r&b/soul stuff and that i probably wouldn't be interested. i say bring it on, and he sells me a stack of around 30 for $5

got some standard greatest hits compilations, giving me access to some oddities (paul evans "happy go lucky me"), standards (james brown, little richard, wilson pickett), and (for me) some standouts:

chuck jackson - any day now
--------- didn't know this singer before, but this record is great. i go to kareoke at a VFW near my house and a guy sings "any day now" but its off the country redux from the 80's. some very cool stuff on here. every track doesn't necessarily impress. but it's great, and i have no idea how i would have found it otherwise.

shirelles - hits comp
--------- i'm a big fan of "will you still love me tomorrow" and i've heard a couple others of theirs. but it's interesting how much of an artists catalogue is essentially forgotten after this much time has passed.

thanks for reading even though no one probably did.
I have no sig whatsoever.

Deathpile - G.R.

Seriously, fucking fierce. Shit gets under my skin everytime I listen to it. It's the perfect soundtrack to insanity. So harsh, so cold.
There's so many questions
How did I get them in my truck?
What did I say?
Where did we go?
Did I fuck them before they knew they were going to die?
Or did they beg me to spare them while gagging on my cock?
Were their desperate tears mixed with my come on their faces?
Or was it blood?
Were their faces pale with fear?
Were their pleading glazed whore eyes seeing that this was the end?
Were their drug ruined bodies trembling beneath my fingers?
Did I torture them?
Did I beat them?
Did I rape them more than once?
Did I come from just choking them?
Or did I have my cock in them at the moment of death?
Did I fuck their dead bodies?
Where did I dump them?
Was it a ritual or was it just taking out the trash?
How long did I stay with them when it was over?

Did I visit them later?
Do I feel remorse?

Do I feel proud?
Do I feel at all?

You will never know and I will never tell.
Feedback will set you free.

CIT> Thanks for the heads up; I did a little googling and found this fantastic WFMU compiled anthology:

Anthology of Japanese New Folk Music 1960-1976

Apparently a song is omitted here (Songs of Pig Slaughter). Not going to pretend I know what I'm talking about here; though it's nice to see some really old material by Kan Mikami.

At the moment pretty underwhelmed by Cope's take on the Japanese underground of the late 60's/early 70's (Japrocksampler). Listening to this comp, one is left wondering if he rather missed the boat.

Just discovered this one yesterday. The history of this album is pretty interesting as is trying to second guess why it hasn't seen a CD reissue. Fortunately it isn't hard to hear the album if you know where to look--now owning the album, that's another matter. Obviously fans of Tonight's the Night and On the Beach (yes, Zuma too) need to check this lost album out. Did any of this end up on the Archive box?
