Is there any other anime like this out there, and doesnt have an ugly childish girly look (with those huge eyes and stuff lol)?
Since I's had a pretty damn nice chick and the story was short (6 episodes) and p'tty warm-hearting
How about REC ?

I just finished Paradise Kiss today, and though I was really not interested at first, I kept watching, and it turned out to be rather decent-- that, and I found high-res files of it that some group subbed. I originally wanted to stay away from this series like the plague when I heard of it, because it sounded like a shitty dramafest at first, but it was more of a comedy/romance than anything. What drew me to it was when I saw that the ED was a Franz Ferdinand song-- which made me say 'okay, I'll try it'. :p

I plan on catching up with current series now, before my Magic Knight Rayearth and Princess Tutu DVDs get here.

I remember reading some chapters into the REC manga a while back. I think the beginning was pretty interesting but I stopped reading it for some reason I can't remember.

Hmm. The manga seems to be ongoing but the anime ended with 9 episodes. So I suppose they're both different but similiar setting? I think I should pick this up again but I don't know which one. Has anyone seen&read both?

So, to take a break from my usual action anime, I decided to watch a romantic comedy for once. Started watching Honey & Clover, didn't go far because of Hagu. Seriously, 23 year old guys falling for a girl who looks and behave like a 9 year old is a joke. If she was a proper 18 year old girl like she was supposed to be then I'd probably watch it to the end.

Then I gave Toradora a try, just finished watching it yesterday. Really fun overall and towards the end the whole drama almost makes you cry. In the end I liked it so much, now I'm looking for other romantic comedies to watch. What do you guys suggest? Is School Rumble any good?

By the way, I've been to /a/ lately and I'm loling hard at all the people hating the 2nd season of Suzumiya Haruhi. Endless eight is driving people mad.

School Rumble was great; I haven't seen second season yet, but first was excellent and funny.

I myself just finished Tengen Toppa Gurrenn Lagann. And HOLY SHIT WAS THAT SHIT AWESOME. My wife and I are dedicated believers in it now.

Endless Eight was one of the weakest episodes, though, there's no arguing that.

As for romantic comedies, one of the best ones I've seen to date is Ouran High School Host Club. It's a little girly, but crazy fun, and the characters are great. Full Metal Panic Fumoffu is also great fun if you've seen the original series (although that's not necessary).

@Ruldra:
School Rumble is brilliant, if a little predictable at times. Definitely worth a watch, if for reference-spotting at least. Very funny stuff.
And /a/ generally hates a lot of stuff, but I haven't seen much of the new Haruhi to make any informed judgements myself yet, though, so I can't say anything on quality. (But I get the feeling of "cash-in" when I think about it...)

Last thing I've watched a bit of recently was Valkyria Chronicles. Seemed okay, if a little fantastical at times (like heavy tanks moving at 80mph), but is currently good enough to hold some interest. Been revisiting Samurai Champloo as well.

If you haven't seen Now and Then, Here and There, do everything in your power to see it as soon as possible, it's incredible.

I second that. It was one of the first anime I've seen, and it's pretty well-done (the closest in terms of atmosphere would probably be Grave of the Fireflies).

Umineko is out? Awesome. A good friend of mine is a huge Higurashi fan, he'll probably enjoy that.

I recommend the Negima manga to anyone who liked Love Hina. Same guy made this, it's about a 9-year-old genius from Britain who ends up teaching at an all-girls school in Japan. Don't watch the first anime, it's shit; second anime isn't related at all. There are some OVAs that follow the manga but only certain chapters.

The Negima! manga is pretty good once it gets into the first battle sequences (vol. 2 or 3 if I remember correctly, against Evangeline), and definitely starts to get going later (Kyoto school trip being the best in the series), but it suffers from a lot of the problems that affect a lot of shonen fighting series: long-winded and too drawn-out.
There's far too many volumes going on, and I get the feeling it's being dragged along a bit. At least the art, characters and battle sequences are decent.

First anime is shit, agreed. Second one (titled Negima!? - note the question mark, though I can never remember if it goes !? or ?!) is a hell of a lot better, and funnier. Though it suffers from a lackluster ending. Art direction from the makers of Pani Poni Dash!, if I recall, which is why it is a lot weirder than the first anime.

I'm not disagreeing that the first Negima! wasn't very good, but for some reason, I still love it either way. Call it a guilty pleasure.

Negima!? was done by SHAFT, who did Pani Poni Dash like Icarus said. If you like those, you might like Maria†Holic, Natsu no Arashi, Tsukuyomi -Moon Phase-, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and Hidamari Sketch if you haven't already checked those out. :)

Man, can't believe I haven't said to go read/watch Full Metal Alchemist. Sure it's shounen stuff, but it's quality shounen stuff. New anime been coming out for a while and it's going through the manga full throttle (2 manga chapters per episode.)

I'm watching the new FMA (haven't watched the original, and not going to in foreseeable future), and it's indeed some good stuff!

A really, really long anime layoff coincided with virtually nothing of interest coming out the past few months, so I decided to catch up on stuff I missed, including The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Enjoying it at the moment - more of the same in all honesty, which is fine for me as I enjoyed the first season, and it is nice to see where the new episodes fit in to the first series.

I'm considering checking out K-On! soon, anyone seen it?

Sorry to double post, but I seem to glitch out when I try to edit..
I gave the whole thread a quick read and would like to give my two cents.
I'm glad that Welcome to the NHK gets some love here. I watched this earlier this year and loved it! I would really like to read the novel.
Gurren Lagann, pretty damn good actually. Samurai Champloo, just gave this another watch recently, fantastic.
I'm a really big fan of Oh! Great, I really liked Air Gear. The manga was better than the series. Tenjho Tenge (great name) was also pretty good also.
Can't go wrong with some Go Nagai, Devil Man Lady was such a good series, dark and brooding. A good adaptation of the Devil Man series with a female lead. Now, something special, Shin Getter Robo. This is absolutely amazing! A seriously dark retelling of Getter Robo, it gets so out of control. This is some of the best anime I've ever seen! Highest possible suggestion. Amon Apocalypse of Devil Man is prett freakin' sweet also. The closest you will get to seeing the end of the storyline.
3X3 Eyes, the manga and anime are both really good.
Shadow Skill, the two movies are amazing, don't watch the series, it's crap.
Afro Samurai, yep it's dope.
Madox 101, good movie, kid finds a mech that fell off a train, gets trapped inside, has to fight off the goverment that wants it back as he's trying to get to the date he has with his girl friend.
Space Adventure Cobra, straight up classic. The manga is superb, I love the way Buichi Terasawa draws women.
Ya'll should read Lone Wolf and Cub, badass. Vagabond, super badass, 'cause there is some truth hidden in there.
I think I'm gonna watch Blade of the Immortal next. The manga was cool.

Highschool of the Dead...

The pass to Funimation was a good move.

Also, I watched a few episodes of G Gundam and it seems to be a decent enough series, may pick up the first set and see if I like it. Also Canaan got licensed here (by Sentai Filmworks, formerly ADV) so I may check that out as well as Blue Drop sometime.
