Unlock the Wii's potential! (since Nintendo won't)

Post by CMoon »

I know there's a lot of Wii haters here, and it's hard not to be since Nintendo apparently doesn't know what to do with it. Yet the wii-mote or wii-mote + nunchuck have potential.

What games would you design for the wii that apparently nintendo is too stupid to think of?

Here's a few of mine:

#1 - the obvious fleshed out versions of every wii sport game that actually worked (IE Wii bowling). There are other bowling titles on the wii, and yet Wii bowling still makes best use of the wii-mote. WTF???!!!

#2 - I want a wii hand-gliding game. The very nature of the wii-mote allows for all sorts of intuitive controls, and input that is much more complex than down+X. This could incorporate all sorts of real physics--hell, I wanna ride thermals. In advanced mode you can go from hand-glider to 'bird mode' using two wii-motes, one for each wing! Fuck yeah! This is either the best or most stupid idea evah!!!111!! (helll, I want a drunken party where people have to try to fly with two wiimotes, fuuuuckkkyeeeeeahhhhhh!)

#3 - Man, why wasn't Endless Ocean the game it should have been -- Ever Blue 3??? I wanted to use the wii-mote to salvage all kinds of crap off the ocean floor and sell it on the island until...until...until I could buy the whole island!!! Hmm, maybe this is less about the wii and more about the kind of games I want to play 8)

#??? - I keep thinking about other popular titles that could have made creative use of the wiimote. In Yakuza 2 for instance, I want to actually use the wiimote to drink all that scotch, or in God Hand, you could have used the wiimote to spank your female opponents (mostly overlooked in the lost opportunity that was MadWorld...*sighs*).

So where are your lists? We must send our ideas to Nintendo, because if they can have the most popular console without even having games, imagine how much money they'd have WITH games!!!

As long as someone makes a really good swordfighting game with Wii Motion Plus, I'll be happy.

All the rest of the good stuff on the Wii, the stuff the Wii was made for, is the sort of thing I would never even think of until I saw it. Like Zack and Wiki, for example. Fantastic, inventive game that really only works on the Wii.

I would make a new Star Fox with head tracking and a new independent weapon that is aimed with the Wiimote.

MAYBE a melee weapon via waggle, but only if it's precise enough. It wouldn't really be Star Fox anymore though. Kinda like Radiant Silvergun or a Milestone shoot 'em up in 3D.

Okay, maybe head tracking in a space shooter is a bad idea. But I really want another Star Fox some day, preferably like 64.

Of course, that's just an opinion.

I wonder if 'Wii Lumberjack' is their new bombshell at E3 this year.

Or maybe 'Wii Are Blind', where the game consists of you holding the Wii Remote like a blind person's walking stick, and you have to accomplish goals on a black screen.

EDIT: I'm obviously not being serious. I love the Wii, even if the majority of its games suck.

Wii Walking? It's already done, buddy.

I'm waiting for Wii Find Something Better to Do from Nintendo.

I like the Wii. I think it's got the most hardcore lineup out of this generation. Think about how many 2D platformers have come out on the Wii alone. Also, the number of shooters and cool, weird games (De Blob) it has beats out both the 360 and PS3.

3D dungeon-crawler using Wii motion plus, something King's Field-ish in first person but unlike KF make it playable in small sessions. Don't want to get exhausted while slaying monsters. :)

A new panzer dragoon.... with a wii mote for your gun and a stick for your flight I think the 2 would marry together well.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Yeah, it's kinda obvious isn't it. Certain games just seem to have been made for the wii; you'd think they'd make games like that!

It is horrible, but not because of looks; angling the Wiimote forward and down is a pain in the wrist, which also killed the fuck out of what fun SMBBB could have been.

Guess I found Pilotwings too late, and couldn't deal with the graphical sparseness even though the frame rate is awesome. :( I do like a bit of jetpack in an FPS.

Remember Capcom's Dead Phoenix for Gamecube?
At one point after is was canceled it was rumored to be getting a makeover as a new Kid Icarus game.
I've been expecting it to show up on Wii ever since, but, well here we are, 3 years into the system's life and nothing even close to a Panzer Dragoon or Starfox game.

Sega's too busy milking their Sonic franchise to death to go about developing a Panzer Dragoon game for the Wii.

For Nintendo...yeah. They're just blind of some of their successful franchises of yesteryear...unless we can expect StarFox Assault with New Play Control. Then again, some people probably won't play the NPC of StarFox Assault if it were to come out for the following reasons:

- It's a re-release with Wii controls.
- The original game was panned to death.

However, if possible, the New Play Control version of StarFox Assault could probably fix those mistakes made in the Gamecube version, but depending on how they execute the re-released product, who knows?

Sin & Punishment 2 looks like that to me.

Jockel mentionned softmodding, which I did. And it does indeed reveal a great potential for the wii. However, why the hell is MAME not available ? I mean, the wii can do it, at least for pre 2000 games.
The only version we have works lunatically and takes 30 minutes to load Gigawing...

I sucked at Brave Firefighters. The Demo mode makes it look fun, easy to play, and just reels you in, but the second I laid my hands on it meant forking dollars down the chute hands over fist. :(

I thought it was a cool game. I was just way to young to know how to play it correctly. 8)

A new Kid Icarus game of ANY kind would be cause for world celebration, but on the Wii would be fantabulous. I've been jonesing for some good KI action since I played the crap out of the Gameboy sequel.

That just made me cry. What the hell? Chopping wood with an axe is fun, but the fun is swinging a REAL axe. Wow, lame.

Go nintendo - way to take potential and drive it into the ground. I mean, that Wii music thing? Uber lame.
