Recommended headset for Xbox 360?
The subject pretty much says it all. Any suggestions? I read some opinions elsewhere but I trust your guys' opinions more (supposedly they're all crap, except the official wireless ones, which are expensive).

I use official wired ones (cheap- have an on/off button- the older ones it's closer to the controller and really great- wireless ones are fairly comfortable but do not work well with me and background noise/my child). No volume issues- don't need batteries.
That- and I use Astro headphones if I need to play "serious" (
). I know there are cheaper options- but I really dig being able to recieve in both ears

I've read some complaints about the official wired ones (high defect rate). Although a headset is one of those things that you'll complain about if it breaks but not say anything if it does its job.
I'm sure the knockoff ones are just as bad if not worse, and they're not much cheaper either. I've read conflicting things about using standard 2.5mm headsets, although the agreed upon drawback is that you lose out on volume control and muting.
I guess I'll just go with the official ones, then. Thanks!

My dad got a pair of Turtle Beach X3 headphones for when he plays Halo 3. I tried them out when he got them and they sound amazing-- it also cancels out outside sounds considerably too.
Of course, they're rather expensive, though...

Dave, What is your budget? I play a bit of gamebattles and I've tried a few of the products on the market, it can be pricey though.
Do you care about voice communication or are you just after quality sound? I'd recommend against purchasing the A40's unless your MLG standard lol
EDIT: Best solution is a pair of quality sennheiser headphones with the wired voice communicator worn around your neck.
Set the sound output to only speakers and you've got an all in one headset with optimum sound and separate voice communication, muting isn't affected.
Only pay excessive amounts of money for DTS sound akin to turtle beach X4s, HPX or Astro A40s if your seriously competitive. Trittons are an option aswell.

I was looking for something simple, just voice communication. I ended up buying the official wired headset today. Really, I was just tired of being the only guy in the Virtual On party lobby with no voice.Diabollokus wrote:Dave, What is your budget? I wish the volume went a little higher, but oh well. As long as these last, they're acceptable, although if I spent a lot of time online I'd probably have coughed up more money for something nicer.
