Japanese TV show about shoot'em ups
http://www9.plala.or.jp/nakanoryuzo/syuukan/78.html
Nakano Ryuuzou has just started a 1 hour show on the cable channel Mondo 21 about shmups. Each espisode will feature a specific game with in-depht discussion by expert players and Nakano himself. The show will consist of total 13, 1-hour long episodes featirung different players and different venues.
The first episode should have been aired today and it's about Raiden IV. Guest star, some guy who double-plays it, at Mikado.
Hope it gets youtubbed very soon.
I don't know if this is being discussed in some other topic already. If so, I kindly ask the moderators to close/delete this thread.

Mondo21 (ch.279) is mint. It`s the only channel on SKY PerfecTV! (satellite telly as well as cable then) I watch. Their Game Record GP programme is infinity more entertaining than Game Centre CX which I also like.

Here is the trailer:

It starts (Episode 1) on 15/05/09 at 00:00 on SKY PerfecTV!
I hope that is of help to someone.
Cheers.

It's on cable as well, seems like you just have to check what is offered by your cable service.

I will be watching and taping every episode but I won`t be uploading it anywhere I am afraid.
If there is anything shown that interests me shoot `em up-wise, I will be happy to report upon it here.
Cheers.

I just 1CC'd Raiden IV arcade mode (not 'Light' mode either!)!
And no, I didn't find it easy - but I'm not exactly a top flight shmup player.
EDIT: I 1CC'd arcade mode solo player. Double Play isn't that easy (and I'm OK at it). Perhaps in light Double Play is bearable, but trust me - the Raiden IV superplay Double Play runs make Xbox mode look easy played that way, but that is because the player is so damn skilled. When I saw them I thought having seen they way he played I'd return to DP and vastly improve. Didn't at all. It's pretty tough - though I haven't seen this TV show - perhaps he is doing light mode...
Anyway, you have to remember the Flashshot system Raiden employs (you are rewarded with score multiplyers for quick kills) means really ace players are clearing everything before you see it, but it takes a lot of skill, practice and strategy to get to that stage - and then when you do it makes it look like there's barely any enemies (as they're just not making it far onto the screen...).

doh, missed this - the thread and the show. I hardly watch any tv that's not downloaded.
My cable provider carries Mondo21 by default - and i have a HDD Recorder - though it's a crappy PSX :/
I'll have a look at the scheduling , it's japanese tv, i'm sure it'll all be repeated into the ground.
I've missed the two i would have been interested in so here's hoping.

cool opening.
oh, JPJ, by the way - it is Hattori playing Raiden 4 - according to the linked site above anyways.
