First off let me give a big thank you to BulletMagnet. I posted this over at Destructoid and he gave me some really good input on the show about some details I missed.
If any of you has any comments or criticisms, please let me know. I'm always interested on what I may of missed or points I didn't touch on.Hey, pretty nice entry - not only is the coverage solid, but in spite of myself I got a good chuckle out of the cheesy jokes (No! Bad Yoda! Bad!). Just a handful of things I might have mentioned myself -
1) Whenever I mention R-Type, I always make sure to note that much of the game's challenge is purely memory-based, as opposed to reaction-based - you'd better know exactly where and when that giant foot comes down, or you're dead meat (though to be fair, Delta's not nearly as bad in this area as some other entries). Also, I would have mentioned that Delta was the first R-Type to introduce some type of scoring mechanic, namely using your fully-charged Force to hit enemies and bullets for extra points - it's not very deep, but still adds an extra layer of challenge for score attackers.
2) When you recommend changing the voice settings on Ys, if memory serves you can't do that until you've finished the game and unlocked the "cheats" option - there are a handful of codes to put in that enable the original Japanese language, cutscenes, etc., but it's not a default option (I think). You're definitely right about the superiority of this version over the PSP port, though - the framerate stutters so badly in the latter that it's all but unplayable.
Looking forward to whatever's in store next!
Enjoy!
