football manager kevin keegan and the quotes ever

Post by jpj »

a selection of quotes from football manager kevin keegan. i actually had to keep the newspaper i read this in, i found it that funny :D it's been pinned up to the office board for months. i knew he has always been a few sandwiches short of a picnic, but seriously...

"It's like a toaster, the ref's pocket. Everytime there's a tackle, up pops a yellow card."

"They're the second-best team in the world, and there's no higher praise than that."

"Shaun Wright-Phillips has got a big heart. It's as big as him, which isn't very big, but it's bigger."

"We are three games without defeat is another way of looking at it. But if we are honest we have taken two points from nine."

"I want more from David Beckham. I want him to improve on perfection."

"Argentina won't be at Euro 2000 because they're from South America."

"Anelka left Arsenal for £23million and they built a training ground on him."

"They compare Steve MacManaman to Steve Heighway and he's nothing like him, but I can see why - it's because he's a bit different."

"England have the best fans in the world and Scotland's are second to none."

"I don't think there's anyone bigger or smaller than Maradona."

"You can't play with a one-armed goalkeeper - not at this level."

"I came to Nantes two years ago and it's much the same today, except that it's totally different."

"I know what is around the corner - I just don't don't know where the corner is. But the onus is on us to perform and control the bandwagon."

"In some ways, cramp is worse than having a broken leg."

"The 33 or 34-year-olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around, if they're not careful."

"I'd love to be a mole on the wall in the Liverpool dressing room at half-time."

"Goalkeepers aren't born today until they're in their late 20s or 30s and sometimes not even then. Or so it would appear. To me anyway. Don't you think the same?"

"I'm not disappointed - just disappointed."

"We deserved to win this game after hammering them 0-0 in the first half."

"I'll never play at Wembley again, unless I play at Wembley again."

"You can't do better than go away from home and get a draw."

"He's using his strength and that is his strength - his strength."

these were originally printed in the daily star, thursday 17th january 2008.

I knew he was prone to the odd gaffe or two, but this is legendary stuff.

"We deserved to win this game after hammering them 0-0 in the first half."

I have no clue who it was, but some years ago, when viral videos were just starting, some English football coach said in a press conference after a near loss, "We'll definitely take the win, although it's not what we would hope for. It's like when you're out on the pull one night and you get a bird that's not so good looking. It's not optimal, but it will do."

Classic.
