Got this score a few days ago and couldn´t improve since...
I still keep on playing, the 10 quadrillion points might be possible for me :D

Arcade Mode
8,315,348,396,046,080 - Battletoad - Chery - Stage 6

The newest scores:

Arcade Mode
12,576,650,206,841,120 - Battletoad - Chery (RF) - Stage 7

Finally made it to stage 7, but just lived there for less than 10 seconds as I had no lives or bombs left...

New scores for all stages:

Stage 1
2,851,290,417,599,039,750 - Battletoad - Romi (RF)

Stage 2
4,455,139,542,581,252,680 - Battletoad - Chery (RF)

Stage 3
3,962,575,706,022,189,240 - Battletoad - Chery (RF)
(I almost got your record here, Rob... :)
although I never expected that some weeks ago)

Stage 4
4,832,191,435,255,708,380 - Battletoad - Chery (RF)

Stage 5
1,417,966,801,077,897,480 - Battletoad - Neo Stranger (RF)

Stage 6
751,290,171,413,362,650 - Battletoad - Romi (RF)

Stage 7
5,028,626,565,698,961,270 - Battletoad - Romi (RF)

I also continued playing Arcade Mode, but failed miserably. Most of the time, something went wrong... when I had a high multiplier, I always lost a senseless life. I improved slightly on one run... you don´t need to update it yet (just update the score attacks). I think I´ll try till next Sunday to get better in Arcade Mode and then take a break (don´t know how long) from Giga Wing 2.

12,894,949,647,268,360 - Battletoad - Chery (RF) - Stage 7

EDIT: Hm like always I somehow make a great (and a bit lucky) run, directly after I posted my highscore... I almost had the 1CC. I guess I just would have needed one more bomb. The very first time, that I had no lives lost until stage 6. It´s really sick how fast the bullets become when you stay alive that long.

I have completely figured out the second part of stage 7 while I survived the first one just with my last 2 bombs. Died at the beginning of the third part (when all the wings are destroyed). Is there a safe spot somewhere? I haven´t found one till now. I´d normally use a bomb which may be enough with some addictional reflecting to destroy this last form of the boss.

Just noticed that now: did you really use the Reflect Laser in stage 4, Rob? Maybe you can cause more volcanon´s with it in this stage, but nontheless I wouldn´t have expected to see such a high score with the laser

By the time you clear it I'm sure you'll improve the stage scores, so just updating the arcade score for now. Congrats on making it to #4. 8)

There is, but I just bombed it.
Battletoad wrote:Just noticed that now: did you really use the Reflect Laser in stage 4, Rob?
Yeah, this stage was (the only one) designed to the advantage of the reflect laser which also makes it a fun score attack stage. It's really easy to destroy the small turrets on the floating platforms, etc. with the regular barrier. RL hits them all at once.

Thanks! :)
I´m kind of surprised that this happened. It needed a lot of time to get decent scores and to survive long... maybe because it was my first bullet hell shooter. I think I would never have played that intensively if I hadn´t discovered this thread and seen what is possible in this game.

I sure hope too that I can still improve :D
It´s definitely possible in stage 4. There is too less planning yet when I play this stage. And first of all, of course I want to get the first place in stage 3 although I don´t know if I see that coming...

Hm I think I´ll try that out. Tried the laser now and then, but for a long time not on stage 4.

And I have two more questions:
It seems like in score attack mode there are not as many medals needed to get a volcanon as in arcade mode. Is that true... or just my impression?

Secondly, why are there now 6 users on stage 1? Seems like you wanted to limit the score attack rankings to 5 and then forgot it and added me. Maybe you should decide if you still want just 5 scores there or add the stage 1 records of IlMrm and black mariah again

Yeah, I remember thinking that practicing the stages by score attack was detrimental since they were easier to get. That's also why laser works on stage 4. I'll cut the charts back to 5.

I now wish for an update here, too. I have rarely played Giga Wing 2 in the last time. And it doesn´t get really get better. I´ll pick it up again some other time. You can enter the quoted scores except stage 4 and 7:

Stage 4
5,645,952,402,727,124,920 - Battletoad - Chery (RL)

Stage 7
5,534,228,188,222,085,180 - Battletoad - Chery (RF)

Just too have some diversion, I played a bit lately and got a new score.

Score Attack Stage 7
6,473,935,505,519,640,300 - Battletoad - Chery (RF)

Finally a no miss / no bomb run.
I think I´ll return to the main game here and finish this damn 1CC after I´m (hopefully) done with Giga Wing 1.

I need to work on triggering the majority of the volcanons and surviving.

Hey, those are some very nice scores, especially for stage 1 and 6. :)
I don´t understand how everyone´s so good at stage 1, I think I just really suck at this stage. Most of my runs ended at less than 2 quintillion.
You should also try the Reflect Barrier because the Laser scores not very good (besides stage 1, 4 and 6 where it´s an almost equal or even better alternative).

It's okay, because my only disappointment is stage 7 because I have a very low score on that one. And about RF, I'll try to play it with a different plane because I already played with the selected plane with RL based on my post.

To Plasmo: Yeah, to tell you the truth, the Dreamcast came outdated and not anymore available on our country because I have searched for that video game console in every store, but lately, it's gone on the list, so I actually decided to go for an emulator. I wanted to go shopping online, but I don't. Gotta admit yo, I am just a poor kid that has a bigger dream of dominating in every game genre. Luckily, I do not cheat in the game, just using emulated human skills.

Having such a heavy slowdown is considered "cheating" here. At least it makes your scores not legit anymore.

If your timing is slightly off on the 2nd (cluster of bullets -> smaller enemies passing in front of the mid-sized plane) then you'll miss the 3rd one, since the charge starts immediately after the meter is refilled. You also have to reflect the bullets as the barrier flares out. For the 4th, make sure the flare out occurs as the two enemies cross paths.

Great work and awesome video! Limi might not have the best stage order, but it's still better than Romi's (who would have been my character of choice otherwise), stage 3 as a start is pretty awful.
Anyway congrats, dude!

Damn I miss this game. Has been refusing to work on my DC. :(
