All I get is audio (Windows XP; Windows Media Player). What codec do I need? It says MPEG Layer-3 in properties, but Win XP supports (certain makes of) that already!

Not sure on codec, but its an .avi file.
Quicktime should run it, if you don't mind installing it.

install CCCP http://cccp-project.net/ which will solve all your problems since that's using some weird mpeg-4 version that ffdshow can handle fortunately.

Just installed divx; Still plays only audio.
Thats weird. Perhaps you need to resinstall. I'm using the full version of divx and it runs in VLC, Media player and media player classic (with QT Alternative).
If you still have issues (even after twiddles recommendation) i actually have the superplay on dvd and have it converted to a near dvd quality version. Although it does come in at 750megs though.

This worked. I installed only the codecs (not the video players). Works in Windows Media Player. Thanks so much!
