ISO Blazing Star super plays
Anyone know where to find one? I want to know how the fuck the Japanese players got 70+ million total scores, as well as how to get 19,000,000+ in Stage 3 with ARYUSTAILM.

Send form-member Kiken a PM-he's done some KILLER Blazing Star stage replays. I don't know exactly where they are at the moment, and I don't know if he scored that high, but they're still pretty amazing to watch.

I have Kiken's replays and they're a great watch- really excellent guides to how to start off scoring in the game, and nice & effective boss techniques. But mannerbot is right, I'm looking for more advanced scoring techniques. Kiken gets something like 15-16 million total, whereas I've seen Japanese players get over 19 million in Stage 3 alone (as I mentioned above), and 65-74million total scores. I'd really like to see how they did this.
Blazing star is pretty freakin' smurf. I was just goin to start a topic about it cause I played it for the first time today. I took a friend to the local import store and they had it in their neo cab. I put it three credits and peaked out at 990,000 on my third credit. I'm gonna have to go and pump more money in to it.
Feedback will set you free.

Yeah, I guess I should've figured that.mannerbot wrote:No offense to Kiken, but I'm certain that twe's not looking for his replays.
C'mon SNK, get with the program and give us SNK Classics Collection-seriously, this is the ONLY classics collection left with NO info out about it, and it'd ROCK if it included Blazing Star!

Are you referring to the player ISO (featured as the Easy player on the Ikaruga Appreciate DVD) or simply an iso file?twe wrote:Anyone know where to find one? I want to know how the fuck the Japanese players got 70+ million total scores, as well as how to get 19,000,000+ in Stage 3 with ARYUSTAILM.
The 70 million scores were more recent (just a couple of months ago, actually) and were achieved in the arcade. I don't know if an auto-fire hack was used to obtain them. Perhaps BER or Click know.
Now granted, I've nailed about 10 million by the end of stage 3 and I can tell you that optimal scoring in the game comes from abusing the hell out of the Blue Gem system. Milk every boss that has destroyable attacks for the blue gems and pretty much ignore damaging the current boss form itself.

in Blazing star there are many secrets for high-score. Stage 1 is very important, because is possibile leech bonus jewel from Boss. You must exit from stage 1 with at least 5000 bonus jewel value, and at the end of stage 2 with 81560 pts bonus jewel value.
in stage 6 (during boss) is possible obtain 15.000.000 pts (leech technique).
also with final boss is possibile leech many bonus jewel, max 5.000.000 about.

in half of stage 6 there are a big ship. This ship is very strong and your score is 50.000 pts.
if you destroy it with rate angel x 128, you can increase 6.400.000 pts.
after this, if you destroy all enemies from hangar of boss ship and the same hanger during rate x 128, you can obtain other 1.000.000

Thanks for the posts and tips Kiken and Gemant. I didn't know there was a Blazing Star super play VHS. I'll keep my eyes peeled on yahoo.jp and see if I can nab one. I may also hunt around Japanese ftp sites, but that's rather a pain in the arse and normally doesn't prove very fruitful.
BTW I must say Blazing Star is easily the least talked about incredibly good shmup on these forums. It's up there with Ikaruga, ESPGaluda and the like.
Sort of a shame really, more people need to play this (and learn the scoring system, because it's incredibly deep). The music is amazing, the graphics and design are amazing (they rival any modern shmup).
Oh and Kiken: yeah I was referring to "in search of" with ISO. However ISO (the Japanese shooter master) does coincidentally have two World Record high scores in Blazing Star, both are 67 million (one for Hellhound, the other for Dino 135).
