Which MVS Board for my Egret 2?

Post by djphaze »

Hello. I recently bought a Egret 2. I wanted to install a MVS Motherboard to play all those Neo Geo cartridges. Does anyone have any suggestions on which MVS i should get? I was thinking of getting the MV-1C Single slot? Would this be a good choice? I want to get the best one all around. I dont want to run into any problems. Good sound quality and picture. If anyone has any advice i would really appreciate it. Below is a MVS chart for reference. Dont know what yes or no i would or would not need in the chart.

I used to have one of those smaller more compact MV-1FZ PCBs but since it was a Japanese region one, I ended up selling it to get the original MVS mobo, the MV-1 mobo. I like how the MV-1 has those slider-type of switches for the volume control. Plus, it can output in stereo as well with the appropiate stereo harness adapter. ^_~

thanks. have you had any problem with any cartridges with the MV-1? I heard the game rage of dragons has problems with the MV-1. How much does one of those go for?

I haven't had any problems with the MV-1 mobo with my MVS carts. Since I don't own the MVS cart of Rage of Dragons, I really couldn't say if it would have problems on the MV-1 mobo setup. Plan on spending anywhere in the neighborhood of $35-$50 for a barebones MV-1 mobo. ^_~

Get one that has JAMMA and not MVS standard.

I have an MV-1, don't have any compatibility issues yet. But don't have Rage of Dragons.

Region isn't an issue if you get a uni-bios.

Make sure you get something that has a socketed bios so you can put one of those in.

The MV-1 looks like it has a socket bios according to the chart.

Yeah it does. Most of the 1 slots do.

The unibios just pops right in if you have a socketed bios, makes it much easier.
