UNLOCKING AINE FOR MAME/PCB: Go into test mode. Select "Maintenance Code". Enter 51024, after which the message "Sit an AINE Flag2" should appear. Return to normal gameplay (take note that during the bootup process, the line "AINE OK!" is seen). On the player select screen, hold down while on the random select box and Aine's portrait should appear, press a button to select him.

What? He took too long.

Man I really suck at this game...
Can´t get over this damn Stage 4 Boss. But I can still try to get at least better scores in stages 1 till 4
Still haven´t entirely figured out the mask thing... sometimes I can´t make it visible although I know where it is

359,300 - Battletoad - Valpiro - 1-4 - DC

EDIT: just reached Stage 5 for the first time on Normal

397,200 - Battletoad - Alucard - 1-5 - DC

I'll probably end up playing Gunbird before then.

I would so much rather be playing Gunbird 2 than studying for the AP Calc test that I'm going to fail Wednesday...

Could practice a bit lately and got a new personal high score

449,400 - Battletoad - Marion - 1-5 - DC

I still miss the masks too often... if I could shoot each mask in the first 5 stages AND reach the level 5 boss, then it would be kind of my perfect score
Or at least I can´t imagine to become a lot better then

By the way: is there a way you can look up your highest coin chain in the DC version? I´m sure I never had more than a 5 chain (on normal difficulty), but can I just look right in the game when my chain ends?

After a lot of tries I reached the level 5 boss...

521,500 - Battletoad - Marion - 1-5 - DC

I need to make some no-bomb-runs to practice the bosses more, especially in stage 4 where I just throw bombs and lose lives... :?

Yeah, I tried the VGA box switch trick, and it works, but it's practically unplayable :( I have to work on getting a new/bigger TV. I really kinda miss playing this game.

Thanks for updating, but I´m now twice on the list, so you can delete my second "me"...

Here´s my new high score
558,900 - Battletoad - Marion - 1-5 - DC

Coin Chain
10 - Battletoad

I can score best with Marion (till now), but I like to play Tavia and Morrigan more. So I´ll try to play with them from now on...

Some very slight improvements
559,300 - Battletoad - Marion - 1-5 - DC

Coin Chain
11 - Battletoad

I still HATE the stage 4 boss... the stage itself is much easier than stage 3 (maybe because it´s always the same), but the boss is still just hell. Wouldn´t be bad if you could restart stage 4 when you go game over there...

This is how I practiced the stage 5 boss several times in a row... but I still found no good tactic against him :(

Nice score, Battletoad. I know what you mean about the 1-4 boss. I've only beat him once.

Didn't advance on the board, but I finally got over 400,000.

Hm I tried some no-Marion-runs lately, but somehow I can´t decide on one character. Nearly all are great, but everyone has a big disadvantage. Morrigan for example is fast and has a great mix of homings and powerful forward shot and her close range attack is kickass. But I don´t like her bomb at all and you can´t use the close range attack that often. I like to use this attack to destroy every "big" enemy before it starts to shoot. That´s not possible with Morrigan.

Thanks.
Well I sure hope you will master him some time. :)
He´s a a real pain... especially the second form (at least it´s my impression) needs soo much fire to be destroyed.

Well just some proof for my old scores.
My Dreamcast has some serious problems... the console makes some strange sounds. I could play Mars Matrix where just the music didn´t sound right, but the the Dreamcast hung up when I played Gunbird 2 now. Well, I´ll finish with the game for now and come back some other time when I could fix my Dreamcast (or bought a new one or whatever).

Moved up a spot! I don't see myself climbing any further, however, so I think I'm done with Gunbird 2 for this year.

Thanks to lgb for taking nice care of this board! I look forward to seeing more scores here.

I played some credits yesterday, just for fun. I´m getting used to Morrigan more and more. She´s nearly perfect... if only her bomb wasn´t so awful. But I find coin chaining easier with Morrigan because of her speed. So I achieved a new personal best chain:

13 - Battletoad

I´ve not totally given up on this game, I´ll try to get to 1-6 some other time. But other shooters keep me busy at the moment.

825,000 - Azinth - Tavia - 1-7 - MAME

Died at the 1-7 midboss.

I was wondering if anyone might know how a good strategy for these attacks:
-Stage 5 boss second form opening pattern, the yellow spray with overlapping rings. The second one is simple, but the first is almost impossible to read for me.
-Stage 6 boss first form-those crisscrossing bullet curtains that overlap with each other that he frequently uses. Is there some kind of trick, or is it just dodging?
-Stage 6 boss second form second pattern. It looks like parts of it are static and other parts are aimed at you, but it's too fast for me to tell...

Thanks in advance.

Since you're using Tavia, work in the bullet canceling slash.
