There's so much to write on the subject that it could take 50 pages. Any indication? Preferred genre? Type of graphics? How are you going to play? What's your tastes? I despise soccer, for instance, so Sensible Soccer for me is utter crap, regardless of how it is considered by the fandom.

Nothing has that many good games, if it would take 50 pages you're counting the mediocrities

I'm looking for arcade and arcade style stuff. Shmup, platformer, puzzle, vs. fighting, action in general. No RPGs or other boringness. Sports are fine if they're like NES Ice Hockey type sports games (no madden bullshit)

Herr Schatten mentioned a game called Rick Dangerous in another thread, anyone else like that one?

Rick Dangerous is awesome (as is rick dangerous 2) , it's more a platform/puzzler in the end as you try to get through each screen.

Superfrog is another cool platformer from Team 17.

Great Giana sisters has to be seen for the Lol factor, it's actually a very close Mario clone and thus very playable.

shooter wise :
Apidya was fantastic, best shooter on the Amiga by some distance.
Despite being all looks and sound, I quite liked Team 17's Project X.
I found Xenon 2 to be a little too plodding, but is worht seeing non the less.

I recall quite enjoying Sidewinder, but i suspect that that might be my memory playing tricks. I recall it having an arcade version some time later along with Leviathan (pretty bad) when the Amiga was potentially touted for arcade which was a little odd, but fun.

Alien Breed and Chaos Engine area great shooter too, Super star dust is worth checking out too for the nice tunnel effects :D

Platform/shooter Ruff and Tumble is great arcade run and gun action too.

others:
Hunter is probably my favourite Amiga game AFTER Sensible World of Soccer (played to death during uni).

Cannon Fodder was a cool intro to point and click arcade action.

Shadow of the Beast is worth seeing for historical value - it really was a "WOW" moment when it first hit.

Pinball Fantasies is a great pinball game, still pretty playable now.

I know you don't want strategy etc, but you have to mention The Sentinel , Xcom and Lazer Squad (albeit that they are all multiplatform).

Syndicate is another classic too.

You don't even know the system, how can you say such a thing ;)
It's usually a good norm to judge only things you know. Also, the idea of a "good game" varies from person to person. Finally, you know how "50 pages" is not really "50 pages" as in counting from 1 to 50, but it's simply a slightly ironic way to say that the Amiga has got a lot of very good games and that you should give us a bit more infos about your tastes instead of saying "omg what should I try on the Amiga?" (what?)... without any indication, this thread would become the usual list of titles with no comment or direction whatsoever.

But, have fun. As in, not with LAUGHTER. That's a kind of fun you don't get from videogames, except boring things such as Monkey Island. I mean fun as in "enjoy your experience with the Amiga software".

Other than those mentioned:

Silkworm is a great conversion on the Amiga.

Menace isn't bad but Blood Money is the one to go for from the Psygnosis shooters.

Superfrog - Great Team 17 platformer.

Super Skidmarks - neat little Super Sprint type racer.

Turrican 1 & II - I love TII, its bloody brilliant, the music is ace.

Stunt Car Racer - Geoff Crammond racer thats greart fun.

UFO Enemy Unknown - aka XCOM.

Speedball 2 - Bitmaps at their best.

Super Stardust - Asteroids on acid.

Ruff N Tumble - Platformer shooter, very good.

Banshee - Vertical sorta 19XX style game.

Super Cars II - Similar to super skidmarks, better imo.

Battle Squadron - reasonable vert shooter.

Tbh your spilt for choice on the Amiga, theres a raft of great games. Many of the arcade conversions are excellent.

Rick Dangerous is well worth a look but is frustratingly difficult and memory based. The sound affects make it worth playing alone.

The set pieces are also fantastic. Imagine Indiana Jones opening sequences every screen.

I really enjoyed the Skidmarks games as a kid, fun physics engine for a single screen racer.

I'd heartily recommend Chaos Engine, but I think that it has been refered to above by a different name. Maybe the American version could have been Blood Money?

Speedball 2 cost me around 4 controllers. I played it for hours with friends.

Definately avoid the Street Fighter games on the console, they really suck balls.

I primarily used my Amiga to play Worms so would recommend that but realiose that you can get it in so many other iterations that it is pretty much defunct.

I'd forgotten Worms and Chaos Engine!

The original Worms on the Amiga is still the definitive version for me. Every other version has felt like everything's covered in a layer of cotton wool - whereas the Amiga one feels solid.

Chaos Engine is sheer brilliance.

Chaos Engine is one of my best games on any machine ever it's simply a work of geneous & I'd love to see it come to Live Arcade with full on multiplayer co-op mode

Like mentioned above Rick Dangerous is an awesome experience as well & a must have IMO

I never did really see the appeal of Shadow of the Beast...sure it looked pretty but aside from that it didnt really do much.

Couple of games I did miss off my list but are simply must haves for anyone into Amiga or gaming in general...

Another World
Flash Back

Simply 2 of the best platformers ever made in my eye's & IMO the true sucessor to the original Prince of Persia game.
Stunning experience & games everyone should play at least once.

Frontier Elite 2 is another game worth investigating...be prepared to lose some serious time to that game, soooo immersive & utterly brilliant.

I don't see the port of Ninja Spirit mentioned. Was it any good? Aside from a really bad title screen it looks close to the arcade.

Turrican and Turrican II are my favorites.

Lemmings and Worms: The Director's Cut are good on the Amiga, if they're action-y enough for you.

I like Cannon Fodder and Cannon Fodder 2, but the load times make me prefer the SNES and DOS ports, respectively.

Apidya's a fun Gradius-style shooter.

B.C. Kid (a port of Bonk's Adventure for the PCE) is nice.

I don't want to dump on the game, but The Chaos Engine seemed pretty mediocre compared to arcade greats like Total Carnage and Ikari Warriors.

No mate, Blood Money is a shooter by Psygnosis.

Assuming your using Win UAE, you could add one of these USB Joysticks for the true Amiga experience:

TCE was definitely not an arcade shooter, although the later levels were brutally difficult.

It's a long time since I played it. Used to play as the Preacher, with the Mercenary as the CPU.

Preacher with fully upgraded weapons = win.

Not all of Psygnosis' Amiga shmups were that good. Agony looked nice but played quite badly (everything took about 50 shots to kill).
Nice intro music though;

oh yes!
great game indeed! :)

Also not mentioned here are:

-Hybris (really cool ver shmup, with awesome music).
-The Plague (run and gun with superb music and very nice gfx)
-Rainbow Islands port is VERY good! (skip if you've got PCE already though)
-New Zealand Story (see above comment)
-Last Ninja 2 and Last Ninja Remix (assuming you haven't played them on a c64 already).
-Alien Breed series (all of them)
-Atomic Robo-kid (very nice and playable version, though I can't vouch for accuracy of conversion since I never played the arcade game)

But really, there are soo many games i could recommend, I'll just leave it after the first few that came to mind.

The Amiga suffered from a number of lazy ports from the Atari ST. Unfortunately this often occurred with arcade conversions -- they'd do a conversion for the ST, then do a quick port across to the Amiga for extra cheeseburgers.

The result is usually a game that suffers from the jerky scrolling and low framerate so often found on the ST (not to mention a more limited palette).

I believe Ninja Spirit is one of those cases. See also Black Tiger, Mr Heli, Last Duel, Ghouls n Ghosts... there are plenty more.

There were a handful of excellent arcade conversions, usually when the developers made the effort to use the Amiga's hardware (Rodland, Silkworm, Pang, Toki), however it's a telling sign that a quick look at the top 100 games list over at lemonamiga.com reveals only about 2 or 3 arcade conversions.

Hmm... why do I feel like I should end this post with a ^_~
