The odds of seeing MMP or Pink Sweets on a console are slim to none. DDP DFK will probably be ported.

Damn it. Just got an email.
Dear Muzza,

This is an important e-mail update regarding your pending Death Smiles
[First Print Limited Edition] preorder (#13074428).

We regret to inform you that due to an unforeseen production cut,
insufficient quantities of this item will be made available to the market.

According to our suppliers there will be a big shortage on this item as
the publisher has decided to make only a very small print run of the first
print edition.

Despite our very best efforts to reserve as many limited editions
beforehand, our suppliers have informed us that only a very small
percentage of the preorder will be made available. We currently have to
expect that we might be unable to accommodate all pending preorders.

At present we are only able to confirm all orders with order numbers lower
than 13054500. Orders with higher order numbers unfortunately cannot be
confirmed at the moment.

If your order cannot be fulfilled, you will receive another e-mail update
from us.

In case that the supply situation changes your purchase intention, please
feel free to contact our customer service in reply to this e-mail with
your instructions or simply cancel the order in your customer account.

For your reference, the Death Smiles normal print is available, there is
no shortage expected for this item.

fuck! (#14314147)

what's worst is that I went ahead and canceled my ncsx preorder to save a few dollars at play-asia.

went ahead and preordered from yesasia for 134.

hopefully they'll get it. odd thing is that the shipment unit is 4 which indicates more than just a cd and little booklet may come with this.

sorry but i dont have time to read a 40+page thread so im just gonna ask...

what are the main differences between deathsmiles and deathsmiles mega black label?

my understanding is ikeda played more of a major role in the MBL release....what game play differences are there? which is better?

im looking at picking up deathsmiles in the next few months and i need to decide whether its worth the extra cash for MBL or not.....

Well theres an extra high difficulty, an extra character and an extra stage.
All of them add a lot to the overall experience.
Sinho owns it, if i'm not mistaken. He should be able to tell you a little more.

so no real gameplay differences ie.) patterns, scoring systems, etc...????

so would anybody really recommend MBL over the normal DS? is it worth the extra money?

i know it may be dumb questions but i really dont wanna throw down an extra $300-$500 for a slight remix of the game, unless it greatly enhances it or fixes issues from the original

the best way to put it i think is this: would a non-godly player really even notice the differences between the 2 versions?

thanx for the responnse jockel :D

Can't comment on that, i only played a few credits on both.
Sorry dude.

Well i think content-wise it's the best black-label yet.
However personally i wouldn't pay this large difference, it all depends on your disposable income ;)
Just carefully think it through, you can get a lot of great PCBs from the money you save from buying a regular version.

agreed...this is where im undecided.....

i am intensely interested in this game and it is definitely the next cave game i will be picking up, but i want to get the 'better' version.....whichever that may be

honestly...the price difference isnt really an issue...they are both high priced items....MBL just slightly more so.....i just dont wanna get MBL and find out i would have been fine with the normal version.....

we shall see what others opinions are about this...im interested to hear what people who have experience with both have to say on the matter

DSMBL is definitely the better game, it has everything DS was AND more.
There's a new character, a new stage and a new difficulty mode. The gameplay's slightly changed and the game feels more like a CAVE game now. Plus you get to see an awesome Tyranno-Santa screenshot at the end of the game.
If money's absolutely no issue, then I'd suggest buying DSMBL without hesitation.

thanx plasmo...this is what i was waiting/expecting to hear....

money is an issue but not really....i mean if i am gonna save up a grand for normal DS it would just be a matter of waiting for another paycheque to get MBL

can anybody explain the differences in a little more detail? im curious....EDIT...plasmo pretty much layed it out while i was typing

more cave-like you say...while i guess im sold now :D

that being said, what exactly made the original 'less cave-like'?

EOJ likes MBL more than DS, and has some info about the differences at http://www.cave-stg.com/forum/index.php?topic=490.0 and http://www.cave-stg.com/forum/index.php ... 61#msg8061 .

The end result is that there is a lot more going on in MBL and you will find no lack of challenge with Level999. Playing for score, MBL punishes death a lot more and suiciding is no longer a useful strategy.

If your definition of 'cave-like' means 'no-bomb, no-miss, full-chain-the-game, big-ass-numbers' style gameplay, then yeah MBL is a lot more cave-like.

Edit: I don't mean these as negative things either if that's how it sounds, just saying that MBL plays quite a bit different than the original does.

Would someone fluent in Japanese care to tell us if there is anything interesting in the Inside Xbox interview with Cave that is currently available from the JP XBL Marketplace? Thanks!

Cool. And now for the somewhat logical followup question: would you be willing to divulge any of those interesting bits for our general consumption? If you are, please do so.

Checked it out. Funny how Inouesan just sits there through like half the interview hehe.

Curious that there is no gameplay footage shown at all? What gives...

Only thing I found particularly interesting was that Asadasan mentioned that one of the benefits of the 360 is having score competitions for everyone connected, nationally and internationally (!). Could just be referring to random people owning J 360s or maybe they're thinking about localizing it. Or could just be an off the cuff comment meaning little.
