Michael Jackson's arcade cab collection up for sale...

Post by spadgy »

Michael Jackson's arcade cab collection is up for sale.

Strangely, he seems to have quite informed tastes.

I guess he had somebody buying them for him...

EDIT: Warning - there's over 60 pages of the arcade stuff!

Same thread on Arcadeotaku going on

lots of sega stuff. Would put money on the fact that some of them are gifts from sega for sure.

Man there are some nice machines in there.....Rush 2049, environmental Galaxy Force, a friggin 3D0 kiosk, a SATURN kiosk, SNES kiosk with FF2 on screen for god's sake. It makes me sad that such a freak can have such good taste in games.
<@scootnet> if you were a real gamer, you could jerk it to Super Metroid box art

Exactly why I've had to convince myself he knew nothing about them and just had somebody buy them in for him...

This just adds weight to the therapists & psychologists who all say that because Michael was on the road from the time he was a young boy through high school & into adulthood, he never truly got that childhood that he should have, and this collection reflects that regression. I mean, loads of people own arcade cabinets, but no one I can think of that owns so many, nor anyone I can think of who has so many collectibles that appeal to children. It's a sad insight into the mind of a man who unfortunately didn't get the psychiatric help he needed as a young adult.

When does this MJ arcade cabinet auction take place and what time?

Ever notice that he has a pristine Atari Games Crystal Castles cabinet and that is up for sale as well. I've been fortunate enough to try out the prototype cabinet version of CC at the California Extreme show -- it features a different marquee and general directions compared to the actual production versions of the same name. It is one of a kind indeed. ^_~

I wonder what will be in store for the upcoming 2009 California Extreme classic arcade/pinball game show this time around? Could DDP-DFK make a special surprise appearance this time around?

Not being able to eat is not the only reason that you could feel some pity for a person. He didn't have a childhood; that's worthy of pity.

I'm not ever going to lose any sleep over it, but there you go.

The former Gloved One said something about being a hard-core Sega fan and it shows with all the Sega arcade cabs being auctioned off. ^_~

Sounds like a fallacy there... As far as I'm aware, Rave Racer was also the first racer with gouraud shading to run at 60 fps.

Take away the "international superstar always on the road" part and you have the average Us.

He had a rough, rough childhood to make up for all those awesome cabs. Read about it or watch some of the docus. He's had his career fucking destroyed and 90% of it was without any merit, a bunch of tabloid BS. Not to mention his skin and body totally destroyed by vitiligo and lupus. Yeah he's messed up in the head but child stardom will do that to a person. So yeah sorry but he did go without a childhood, a social life, an iota of privacy ever, among some other things we take for granted.
