I was wondering if we got any financial analysts here? I picked the worst time to start collecting the pound is so poor, should I wait or just carry on buying? because it looks like the pound is just constantly dropping

Yeah im getting more sales from the US and World wide with my shirts since the crash. I mean the dollar is feable but it towers over the Sterling right now. Suites me fine though even though my stock prices are going up for me a lot of smaller suppliers are having to have yard sales trimming there lesser bought brands. Which works out for me beucase i can buy stuff and sell it cheaper passing on the bargains. at the end of the day to me a quid is worth a quid I dont buy from abroad at all so its not effecting me one iota .

£ is about its normal exchange now. If you wanted it to stay at $2.15
I think it will rise to about $1.70 and hang there. The US isn't out of trouble yet and all those that sold the £ 3 months ago are going to be buying it up again soon.

I've still got $600 in travellers cheques & cash from my trip to Vegas in December & I'm waiting for the £ to drop a little bit more so I can get more £'s back when I change it up
Although importing is costing me a fortune at the moment
My Asian CE SFIV & DDP Black Label Extra both shipped within a week & instead of being under £70 for the pair when I pre-ordered them I paid nearly £100 for them both because of the poor Exchange Rate
Still I'm cutting back now...only have Death Smiles & Ketsui on pre-order now & that will be my last batch of imports for the rest of the year until Madden '09 is released.

The state of the £ will be bad for buying stock in USD this year.
The recession itself is hitting very hard all over. I have a friend in Arizona who has 20 days before repossesion. He says there are no jobs around and the few who have jobs have had their hours cut down to 20 hours per week.
Restaurants are empty in the UK. The construction and car industries are extinct.

Trouble with the USA is geography. If you live somewhere like Vegas its 2000 miles in every direction which makes commuting a bit hard. Well thats my experience anyway. I lived in Evansville, IN and lost my job there. My skills were needed in St Louis and Louisville. Each trip was between 1 and 2.5 hours. I'm glad i'm back in the UK, even London is only 50 miles away from my house thank god.

Your telling me! I got offred a load of Hori Pro and madcatz TE sticks at VERY good prices but after import tax and all that shit I would be lucky to make more than 1 or 2% on them. becuase if I was going to sell them I would not be jacking up the prices.DEL wrote:The state of the £ will be bad for buying stock in USD this year.
Right now there is all these new rules put in place to help small and medium sized busnises get loans to be able to buy stock sell it and move forward.
I have orders for a few hundred pounds waiting in the wings but these big companies expect to get the product now and not pay for anything from 30 days right up to 90 days after they recieve it. I cant get a loan on the paper work the bank just flat out says a firm no and Im stuck trying to scrape enough to togther to buy in stock for a pay off in 3 months time. Its anoying becuase people are telling me how jan and Feb are the quitest months of the year and yet these have been the some of the highest monthsorders (both in quantity and the money spent) in the past two years for me and I am having to turn down jobs becuase companies refuse to pay for a few months.
its why i love the arcade stuff. Almost everyone pays up front then order the stock in and they get there stuff. No one ever complains and everyone tells me how delighted they are with there shirts. companies fucking mess you about ordering in samples and then refuse to pay for them when they dont want them. they arse and mess over the smallest details like the type of font only to get them all printed then decide the sizes are wrong becuase non of the staff tried on there samples. I am getting wise to it though ive been enforcing deposits to cover my initial costs and if someone orders something and they dont like or want it in other words tough tits! Everyone gets a chance to view the garment before i put there logo on you signed the papers saying you were happy. Deal with it. ha ha ha personal rant over
Point is the banks piss me off a lot right now the goverment is all to ready to step up and bail out the greedy banks. But when its crunch time and the goverment ask them to help out the little guy they fucking wont man up and do the right thing.

1.00 NZD = 0.352628 GBP
1.00 NZD = 0.509226 USD
1.00 NZD = 49.1062 JPY
Oh stop whining you babies. At least you don't have to put up with what I have to, I'm subject to next to no importing and more local purchases.
Something will have to happen soon though, the currency can't continue being erratic like this.

The worst part of the pound/dollar issue is that I'm getting hit with customs taxes and handling charges for much cheaper items than before. The Parcelfarce Standard Rape Charge is currently 13.50 GBP, which you pay as a handling fee when they give your package to customs. It's usually much higher than the actual tax is.

You can only be sure of one thing in these times: Anything fucking goes. I mean, they're even telling young people to not be stock heavy. The dollar has taken a nice uptick against the yen, although it'll take an additional 10% climb to get to the average for the past 10 or so years.
