I'm drunk thread!
You're missing a totally awesome New England winter though, Cmoon. I enjoy a scotch now and again, but I stick to either Johnnie Walker or Cutty Sark, mostly cause I don't feel like spending too much money on liquor. Though, I do eye up bottles of Laphroaig cask strength whenever I'm in the liquor store.

Tried a couple other scotches from Laphroaig and Glenfiddich. As far as the latter, I tried out the 15 year which is a nice reddish golden color, but to my tastes, the 12 year beats it out. The 12 is really smoth and tastes great. For some reason, the 15 actually tasted a bit generic--which sounds really unfair because it is a fine scotch, but I just feel the 12 has it beaten.
As far as Laphroaig, compared the 10 year to the quarter cask. Both are great scotches, highly unique with a smokey salty taste. The later is extremely strong and lingers in your palette for a long time encouraging very small sips. The 10 year is like a muted version of the quarter cask. It is still extremely good but just doesn't have the same impact. Given that the quarter cask is $20-$30 more than the 10 year, it is a really tough call.

I could get fucked up for about $.40 if I split it will someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"There are a number of accounts in English which comment unfavorably on the taste of baijiu, comparing it with, for example paint thinner, rubbing alcohol or diesel fuel. The typically high ABV of much baijiu is commonly cited as the reason for these impressions."seattlexc wrote:I had some chinese hard A ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baijiu ). Drinking Talisker and Zacapa while Sydney's roasting. Zacapa here costs a load of money (like, 350 AUD per bottle), but I played some tricks to pay the half for a bottle.
It is a stupidly strong ron (rum), with the peculiarity that it has some slow-effect sweet taste at the very end of the glass, like a bit of honey goes at the bottom once you pour it.
Scotch, especially for johnny Walker: I have come to the conclusion that the red label is pointless and everything else is excellent.
Keeping in mind that green, gold blue labels may be too strong and fancy for the average drinker, I'd suggest to start from their line-up (black label ftw!) if one wants to learn scotch.
I also confess that I am enjoying some Drambuie every once in a while. Ah, btw: NZ's beer is ten times better than Oz one, on average. Monteith shines above all.
...Of late if I drink stuff below 20% (40 ABV) I tend to feel sleepy, wtf? No prob with the rest. Mah...

I thought you Brits were prepared for a little snow, now I don't feel so bad about Seattle being on lockdown after a few inches of snow.MX7 wrote:I was going to go to London for the day today, but the whole south east of the country has collapsed because it's snowing a bit![]()

Tonight is a good night.....whole bottle of Riesling in an hour, and feeling mighty fine on an empty stomach!
Now I've got the munchies and an urge to play FPSs. Go figure. Also...my typing takes about twice as long due to excessive typos. How irritating. And I have the distinct feeling that I should be watching a bad movie with Tim Roth or Nathan Fillion. That's normal.....right?

Wooh. No hangover today! Drank a few too many beers yesterday though. Dragonforce lived up to his nick, and tried to force (wow, worst joke ever) lots of alcohol into my body. Unfortunately for him, he was way more drunk than me, so I ended up winning!
Anyway, went to bed at like 7am, slept for 4 hours, then my friend calls me saying I need to read the Naruto-manga. Jees. So I get out of Dragonforce's gfs apartment (not as bad as it sounds, DF was there too.. and neither of us had sex
), up to the sixth floor where DF lives. And then I get disappointed.
So, now I'm going to have breakfast (another beer) and read stuff about shoe-sama. And no, he's not Swedish
