RQ: Muchi Muchi Pork questions

Post by 8 1/2 »

Just a couple of random questions.

1) Is there any way to evade the turret before the final boss battle without a bomb? You don't seem to be able to destroy it. I can make my way through the pattern, but the very last line of bullets shifts positions, creating what seems like an impassible wall. It's insanely frustrating to get to that point with no bombs and have to sack a life just before the final battle.

2) Which is more valuable: a) Hitting a bomb in the midst of a dense boss pattern and soaking up the pigs for 1000 points each. b) Hitting the secondary fire shot just a dense boss patterns starts, getting the kill, and soaking up 10,000 point medals? I keep reading the former is better, but it seems about the same at least in my playing.

Stay close to the turret as it starts to fire and sway back and forth. If you are in the proper rhythm you will be able to evade all the fire with no problem, and no need for a bomb or death. You're right, you can't destroy it though.

You're supposed to do a) for awhile and finish off with b). Multiple loops of a) can be worth more than b), though b) is worth more than a single loop of a).

Ok, that's interesting. I always try to stay back from that turret, which just leads to trouble. I'll try getting up on it and tricking the fire.

Any thoughts on the fourth stage boss' final pattern? With a bit of luck, and usually a bomb or two, I can get through the first two phases of his attacks, but when he starts up that green chaingun it's pretty much always death if I'm out of bombs. It makes me feel like the intended strategy is to intentionally suicide, and then use my new bomb stock to soak up pigs and then go for the kill shot.

One more question: Is there a cap on the number of extra lives you can earn?

check out the fifth post on page 20...
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... &start=570
there is a replay on that nicovideo site that you might be interested (stage 4 boss)...
Is there a cap on the number of extra lives you can earn?
:?: :?: :?:
each 10mil you get an extra life, but you/the game can only hold 5 lifes... just die before you get your next 1up!
the player (LIS) on the nicovideo site goes through 26/27 lifes on the replay...

The last form of the ST4 Boss isn't too bad if you stay at the very top of the screen sweeping left and right around the centre, then come round and down before the big blue spread. Laser the Blue spread for big medal points ( on either first or second blue spread ).
& yes as Uncle CHI points out - just 5 lives up top max.

Hmm, can't seem to find a MMP video on that site, but I don't read Japanese so it's hard to figure out. No worry though, I've been putting in some time and have gotten the stage 4 boss down to a two bomb affair for the most part. I still tend to die near the end, but I'm getting better. So close to the 1CC, which I should have achieved ages ago, but I keep getting distracted. Right now I'm deep into DDP-DOJ-BLEX on 360, but MMP is callling to me again. Gotta go for the clear this weekend.

Besides the official cave dvd superplay included with the OST (2-ALL Rafute), there is a 204M 1-All Ikuo on nicovideo.

I just started playing Muchi Muchi Pork.
Great game, but I have a few questions for the masters....

1. Why do some midbosses, after plummeting to death, either leave piggies on the ground or spew gold cubes that are uncollectable (don't sink in automatically)? I still don't quite get it, is it somehow related to the act of shooting when he dies?

2. Why can't some cubes be sucked in? I keep losing chains because it happens in an empty section and there's no enemy to keep the chain going....

EDIT: I'm aware I have to shift shot types to absorb the gold, it's just that it doesn't work in the cases above.

If you are using regular shot when the snouts are spawned, you have to switch to laser and then BACK to shot to absorb them. Its the switch to shot that pulls them in, not just using shot.

Using this, you should be able to solve both problems. Hope it helped! :)

Moarrrrr questions :)

I'm playing 1.01 on the 360.
I tried finding the info in other threads but I couldn't, sorry if they've already been answered and I didn't see it.

1. Is that difficulty gauge a representation of rank?

2. If so, how is it that you keep it low by suiciding and not having more than 3 lives in stock?
I tried to do it but it still maxes out by the 4th boss regardless. Is this normal?

3. Should the suicide be done with all bombs in stock or can I use them bombs to milk bullets and then die afterwards? Is there a difference between these two "suicides"?

4. When is it better to suicide? Losing a life in the middle of the stage is better than doing it on a boss?

yes, that s a rank meter.

I usually suicide after I run out of bombs when milking the boss. However, if at the end of the boss you have 3 lives, it might be smart to suicide near the beginning of the next stage. Mainly, I suicide for more bombs, for more milk. I have the rank meters off.

I'm not sure that bomb stock at death affects rank, so I would say use all your bombs. Again, I dont have rank showing, so I'm not sure if suiciding is even lowering the rank enough to keep it low.

Hope this helps!
