Ketsui issues - time to change the battery?

Post by emphatic »

So I'm playing Ketsui today, and when I reach the first boss, the game freezes. The music is still playing so I think it's some kind of bug (even though this is a revised ROM version board).

I turn my EGRET II off and on again, but now the game only reaches the Operator Warning screen (only use in Japan blah blah blah). So I switch the NVRAM reset switch on the board (the little flip switch) and now the game boots ok. But I want to have FREEPLAY on, so I enter the service menu and turn that on, and then QUIT to restart the game. But alas, the game still won't get past the Operator Warning screen.

Please tell me this is what happens when the battery runs out and that the PCB isn't broken in any way.

You can understand my distress as this isn't a run of the mill cheap Mr. Driller 2 deal here, but one of the more expensive ones. And to top that, this isn't even mine!

FIXED!

Sounds like the little battery needs to replaced pronto. On my PGM-based DDP-DOJ PCB (just like Ketsui and ESPgaluda PCB on based on), I had my back-up battery replaced with a new one after hearing reports of other fellow shmuppers with theirs have a battery just about to swell up and spew out all over. I checked out the battery to see if it was alright...it was but it was replaced anyways.

Nah, it was just a "reset to default" that was needed to wipe the NVRAM.

STFU, rubberpants. :P "Cold sweat" is my new middle name, sven666. Thank God we have guys like rtw for these situations. I almost soiled myself, and not in a particulary good way.
