I think you guys are being overly harsh. They're doing their best to release a quality product. Delays aren't anything new. even when there are pre-orders. Yes they can be annoying, but if the circumstance is that it needs a delay to be worthy of our time and money then I say so be it.

Dedicating your free time to a project like this deserves respect as it takes a fair bit more than the thrust of a shovel like some might think.

yes delays suck, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water is what I'm saying. I accept their apology, and I'll accept the bonus too :D

the soundtrack looks amazing. I like how they went with that pink for the cd itself. I wonder if they will sneak any hidden tracks in on us. so who all has ordered the soundtrack itself? I know I have cause I really like the preview mp3s the've put up on the blog.

digipack.... it's cardboard so it'll be easy to get messed up, that way you can know that there will be less in mint shape and raise yours in value.

be sure to buy 2 then and keep one sealed!!

not

I didn't even know digipack was a word much less was a name for this kind of case.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Get real. We are probably talking about a printed piece of paper here ("bonus postcard", yay) or something of similar value.

exactly my thoughts!

The soundtrack's remix sounds absolutely spectacular so far (even more than what I've heard from the OST).
I am pretty certain this is going to be worth every Euro cent it costed me.:)

"a small bonus" seems poor compensation for taking peoples money for a product that was no where near finished.

I see. I'll agree with that, but I don't think there's much that can be done to make up for the delay either. Best to just focus on getting it out. Release delays aren't something unprecedented though. In my experiences, they tend to come with no apology or effort to compensate.

Maybe I'm just used to delays after many of the recent snkplaymore releases being delayed to hell.

People give money for unfinished products all the time.

The point being is that on this occasion the money was given when an expected release date was supposed to be met and then wasn't.

Its not a mild delay either, its been quite a while. But as said before, rather have a better product than a lame one.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

The free bonus isn't a compesenation for anything at all. It's just a way to thank you to the poeple who are patience about the game, no more no less. We use the delays to make the game better, to add more feautres etc. The scoring fearure is know way more advanced then it cool have been w/o delays. Note, the game only should have 5 instead of 6 stages before. Actually, I don't consider this delays anymore, we just give the game some extra time fo making it better. The peple who have a pre-order for a long time can be proud of making a product better. If someone doesn't like this idea, you know what you can do.

Personally I rather try being patience about a game to get a better game with more features instead of taking a Super Play DVD bundled with the game to compensate the lack of stages and justify a full price. Then I don't have to watch other people playing the full game while I only get a boss rush mode of that game - yes I mean Ketsui DS.

The difference there - beyond the fact that Ketsui DS is damn good fun - would be that Arika didn't take money off their customers before the product was anywhere near finished.

That's becasue Arika didn't take the time to include the stages. I rather give them money in advanced and then get the full game instead just getting half of it and a DVD of another game. What I mean is, that DUX could have been already finished at December 2008 if not earlier, but we decided to make the game better during the deveopment. You have to understand that DUX o was originally supposed to be a short time project with 5 stages you can get for 20 EUR, now its a long time project with much more features, which is worth more then 20 EUR. And again, when someone is abused by this, they know what they can do.

Of course I understand how people are abused by the many delays nonthless.

Since the other Hucast game - Pier Solar is also suffering massive delays I just have to ask. Is this just a coincidence?

Pier Solar had a big delay because someone who worked on the game left, and didn't give the crew permission to use their work. As a result, they had to go back and redo what that person had done. I have a feeling DUX is being delayed for other reasons.

what would you rather have? lets look at delays for a moment. because sony wanted Gran Turismo 2 out for christmas that game was rushed to stores and what happened? a bug that made it so you couldn't get 100% on the game. that's called a quality issue. also I think we should be glad that the developers of this game have made these delays so that we can get the best product possible.

Actually Pier Solar is made by Matermelon and its stocked at my HUCAST.net store. And its not a pure coincidance that both games receive many delays since both are independent games. It's not meant to be an excuse but sometimes independet games have less resources to keep release dates. That's something were independent games have to improve on though, especially when taking pre-orders early.

Kaz Hirai of shmups? :)

I do agree though, it's worth some delays to get the best possible product out there.

The final judgement on all this debate will be the game itself...if it's as awesome as promised then it will have been well worth the wait. On the other hand if it's crap we get the pleasure of another 500 moaning posts on this thread...
...and let's face it, we all like a good moan every now and then :)
