Space Invaders, need help quick

argh im writing an essay on space invaders and can not find a piece of info,

did the original coin op version have any kind of high score table or high score display?

IIRC, it had a 4-digit high score display in the center. I'm not sure if it expands beyond 4 digits.

No high score table, it just lists the highest score at the top of the screen, plus the last player 1 and player 2 scores logged.

Correct. Also worth noting that you couldn't enter your initials, etc and the high score was of course wiped when the machine was powered off.

Feel free to add Taito's jazzed up remake/spin of it's beloved Space Invaders franchise with the 2008 release of Space Invaders Extreme for the Nintendo DS and the Sony Playstation Portable handhelds. SIE is a worthy sequel/upgrade and definitely pays tribute to the first SI game when you play it during a Wi-Fi session -- a befitting thirty years in the making. ^_~
