I'm really really excited about Bionic Commando. Grin did such a good job with BCR that I KNOW they won't fuck this up. They've shown they really care about the Bionic Commando series and know what makes it fun.

The X360 Cave Ports
Umihara Kawase Shun DS
Discipline (not sure what it is, but it's jumped to the top of my most anticipated Wii games)
Murasama

And more stuff I'm forgetting about.

Brandish remake for the PSP.
I'm pretty sure that it doesn't turn out half as good as it's PC98 original,
unless falcom somehow manage to implement the minimap editing features on the PSP...

Anyway it doesn't really matter, I'll buying it for my Brandish collection, if it turns out good it's a plus.

Next gen Castlevania could be great since Alucard is back in the driver's seat. What worries me is that it's 3D and considering the pedigree...
Yup, looking forward to it too, I have no worries here since I actually enjoyed playing Lament of Innocence & Curse of Darkness.

I'm mostly looking forward to the state of Dwarf Fortress at the end of the year, personally. Same as usual.

I wish Starcraft II was coming out in '09. This is Blizzard, though, and we'll be lucky to see it in 2010.

Nice graphics but Odin Sphere has nice graphics too and it is meh. OS has too many problems like playing the same 5-6 levels (consisting of two backgrounds) over and over, fighting the same bosses over and over, barely able to see anything in front and behind because everything is oversized, horrible slowdown in places, cumbersome alchemy and menu system and so on.

I'll keep an eye on Muramasa and hope they just give us 10 or so action filled levels full of varied enemies and backgrounds.

and make it hard and let me see more than 2 feet ahead without looking at a stamp-sized minimap.

It's a great game that gets a bit frivolous towards the end. The good thing about the DC version is that it looks clear, unlike the really blurry (albeit enhanced in some ways) PS2 version.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Looking at 2009 I have decided that it will most likely be a year of buying old stuff rather than new releases. There are a few though:

Ultimate Shooting Collection - Wii. Really don't care for Chaos Field but i have never played the other two games so I was thinking of picking this up at some point.

flOwer - PSN. I really like to visit flOw from time to time when I need something to zone out with so hopefully the new game follows the same mechanic.

I wish Starcraft II was coming out in '09. This is Blizzard, though, and we'll be lucky to see it in 2010.

Depends on when the beta starts. If it shows up within the next few months, we could see a release by the end of the year.

Starcraft II is the only game I'm really interested in. I've kind of phased out of playing the new games that have been released for the past few years. Part of that is because of the ridiculous hardware requirements just to run the games, with an alarmingly large emphasis on pretty graphics (which to be honest don't look much better than anything else I've played). The last two PC games I really got into were UT 2004 and Half-Life 2.

Update: lol fell on my arm again, looking forward to playing anything. This will probably be good for my coursework though.

Diablo III (2011 etc.), DiRT 2 (no DRM plz), and Mad World even though I need a Wii.

It'll also be good to play L4D with some new content.

Good choices in here.

Well, MUSHA just arrived on the Virtual Console, so I'm hopeful for more great VC releases.

Other then that, I'm really hoping that Sky Crawlers, done by the Ace Combat Team, and Taiko Drum Master come out over here, for the Wii. Also, Deadly Creatures, The Conduit, House of the Dead Overkill, Ultimate Shooting Collection, and Wii Sports Resort (which will hopefully come packaged with Wii Motion Plus.)

You can always play fighting games one handed against kids. I can beat the crap out of my cousins in SF3 3rd Strike with just my left hand :P.

These seem like pretty safe bets:
Street Fighter IV
King of the Fighters XII
Resident Evil 5

I might end up getting Sin & Punishment 2, Mad World, and Bayonetta also. And the Cave ports, if they get a US release.

I've been looking forward to Rush Rush Rally my whole life, so I wouldn't narrow it down to 2009.
