As someone who monitors well over a hundred sites, I fully endorse Siliconera.

Excellent site in every way.

I go to Kotaku for my daily gaming news.

Used to read Destructoid until I got too fed up with virtually everything about it. The fact that the site is full of braindead 4chan memes, the overwhelming focus on console gaming to the extent that the PC is insulted by members, and the claim of being a "hardcore gamer blog" despite the fact that the bloggers and members of the site are some of the most casual halo-playing annoying gamers I've ever seen.

Kotaku is at least a little better, and the comments have a much higher intelligence bar on average. In terms of what news is reported, though, they're both mostly the same.

I used to read shacknews.com until the site owner sold out and now the site is more about wii-playing, ps3-bluray playing, and valve jacking off a couple years too late. This site used to be about competitive skill based fps like the quake series, UT series, counter-strike, and mods for half life 1. Now it's exploit filled kiddie games like TF2 and left 4 dead if the PC gets mentioned at all. Fuck it.

Now I read Kotaku.com, listen to idlethumbs.net, Destructoid, and virtualr.net.
