No Miss - Insert Coin (metal shmup-medley)

Post by GibIt »

Hey ^^

Me and a friend got a videogame-coverband, called "No Miss", who arranges medleys out of well known and not-quite-so-well known videogame-songs.

We've just released a second medley called "Insert Coin", which is a hard rock/metal medley consisting of shmup-songs. Thought there might be someone here who could enjoy it ^^

It can be downloaded as mp3 or found on our myspace.

Any feedback good or bad would be much appreciated ^^

As spam-tastic as the post is, the links are legit and the music isn't bad. I vote mods leave the thread up.

As for the song, I could only pick up on Star Fox and Zero Wing. funny shit. 'Prolly missed the boat on the song title, but whatever. I'm keeping the song, so I guess that says something :)

Got a download link for Battle Scar?

I do realize that this most certainly is shameless self-promotion ^^ And I hate spam just as much as anyone else, so if the mods feel it's a violation, I sincerely apologize.

My intent is good though, as it being the promotion of kick-ass videogame music! ^^

The title "Insert Coin" is merely an arcade reference, which comes from us being huge fans of arcade-shmups. It turned out to rather ironic though, since we ended up not using any song from arcade-games >< (The only one would be Zero Wing, but we based the covers on the music from the Genesis-port, so meh.) We just stuck with the title anyway. And a full song-list is now posted on our myspace.

Yes, Battle Scar can be downloaded here :D

Glad you enjoyed it!

This is the kind of spam I approve of.

I was only able to recognize Zero Wing's songs. That's...kind of sad, really.

are there any other shump mixes like this? I have a couple of shooter mixes but they don't feature just shumps music(FPS games are included as well).

I wish somebody would do the Recca stage 1.5 drum and bass remix we talked about a while ago.

For something called insert coin their are way too many console shmup songs. Do some Seibu,Cave,Raizing,Toaplon,Taito related stuff. Other then that it was great.

Edit:I'm guessing the Zero Wing song was inspired by the console release.

Thank you very much!

We're very glad you enjoyed the medley. ^^
We definitely have more medleys coming up, including at least another SHMUP-medley, although I can't really say when.

Actually, there are technically NO arcade-shooters in this medley, since the arrangements of the songs in Zero Wing differ quite a bit between different ports, and we based our covers on the Genesis-version (with the AYBABTU-intro) as I explained in a previous post ^^

But yeah, next time we do a SHMUP-medley we most likely will have some arcade-games in it ;)
